Trudeau government rejects e-petition to lift restrictions on AR-15

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has shot down one of first e-petitions to go before Canadian Parliament, saying it has no plans to change the restricted status of the popular Armalite AR-15 rifle.

In a response to the petition, quietly tabled in the House of Commons this summer while it wasn’t sitting, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said he has “no intention” of invoking a section of Canada’s criminal code to reclassify the firearm as unrestricted.

    Was there ever any doubt?

  • BillyHW

    But it’s scary-looking!

    • UCSPanther

It’s a left over legacy of the assault weapons moral panic.

  • Clink9

    Black Rifles Matter.

  • Ed Ellison

Most people think that AR stands for Automatic Rifle.
    It doesn’t.
It is Armalite’s designation for this model, but you won’t find that info anywhere on the MSM.

    • Clink9

Or they think it’s assault rifle.

Good job Mr Prime Minister just keep it that way , hunters who are looking or want to hunt with that type of guns they should take a hunting trip to the US.

    • UCSPanther

You’re going to need a safe space when you see what we have that is non-restricted…

    • Clink9

      Get off your knees man!

      • UCSPanther

I want to see the AR become non-restricted one day just to watch the chimp out that will occur among the hoplophobe crowd.

        • Clink9

But it’s so black and scary and has chunks of metal that fly out!

I know that sounds like every other gun but this one makes Justin wee wee his pants.

    • canminuteman

It’s not for hunting. It’s for keeping the government out of your face.

      • Maurixio Garciasanchez

It’s out of my face now just with my vote .

        • canminuteman

It has been estimated that 262 million people were killed by their own governments in the twentieth century. It can turn on a dime. Why take any chances?

          • Clink9

Maux would love to be handled roughly by Justin or some of his G men.

      • Maggat

Only GD problem, having one gets the gov’t in your face.

  • Doug Kursk

The magazine pictured is illegal in Canada unless pinned to only accept 5 cartridges.

  • Ron MacDonald

Someone should start an e-petition demanding Justin be replaced as leader of the Liberal Party because he is a national embarrassment. I doubt there would be any trouble getting the required signatures.

  • Clink9

To get the restricted permit added is only about a half day course.

    • UCSPanther

It is also quite apparent that restricted permit holders, as well as the number of restricted firearms are growing.

Also, the Liebral’s current majority is a very slim one and the only reason they won the last election is that they were “the last man standing” after both the Conservatives and NDP collapsed in support.

The AR-15 is a great rifle (for all sorts of uses) and all free men and women should be allowed to own at least one.

    • mauser 98

unreliable , jams , chipmunk cartridge.. but a good magazine system

      • Maggat

Hard to beat a good Russian made SKS45, reliable, sturdy and the bonus, the ammo is dirt cheap.

  • Maggat

Wendy Cukier, good grief I haven’t heard that name since the last pitiful liberal gov’t.
It didn’t take her long to slime out from the fungus patch where she dwelled.

    • mauser 98

she recently was rejected for a job at York U… too whacked even for them

      • UCSPanther

It was Brock University, and word has it that crazed activist was too toxic even for her fellow academics…

        • mauser 98

oops …right ..they are all whacked

  • mauser 98
