State Dept.: $400M to Iran was contingent on US prisoners’ release

The State Department admitted Thursday that the US would not hand over $400 million in cash to Iran until it released four American hostages — two weeks after President Obama insisted the payment was not a “ransom.”

State Department spokesman John Kirby was asked at Thursday’s press briefing: “In basic English, you’re saying you wouldn’t give them $400 million in cash until the prisoners were released, correct?”

“That’s correct,” Kirby replied.

    But still, NOT A RANSOM!
Dems can do and say anything and the media will cover for them.

  • This was all predicted in 2008.

I’d have thought that forking over $ 100 million per hostage would give the diaperheads a strong incentive to kidnap lots more Americans. I guess I’m just too dumb to be on Obama’s foreign policy team.

    “It wasn’t a ransom.”
    “What was it then?”
    “It was a flormph.”
    “What’s a flormph?”
“A flormph is something that is not a ransom.”

Well, it is a bit, just a bit, ramsomy.
You have to understand it was the perp’s, er. iran’s dough in the first place, and it got tangled up in all sorts of other US court disputes because they are usually dicks about everything.

I know it was a ransom. You know it was a ransom. The media know it was a ransom, which is why they buried it.

Amazing how the story about Trump and his nutty conspiracy theories died in less than 24 hours. Telling is how when he backtracked his supposed viewing of footage (a fevered imagining? Info from a classified security briefing he wasn’t supposed to repeat?), the press and Clinton declined a golden opportunity to hammer him.
