Is the end of white Christian America a good thing?

“White Christian America is dying,” proclaims the headline on a Monkey Cage blogpost by the perceptive political scientist John Sides. Like many headlines, it’s an exaggeration of the thrust of the article that follows, which is an interview with Robert Jones, head of the Public Religion Research Institute, on his new book The End of White Christian America, based on PRRI and other research on religious beliefs and practices of Americans.

  • In a word, no.

Judeo-Christian ethics in the West kept things stable.

Go anywhere in the Third World and tell me how things are working there.

    • The left would have us believe turning western nations into the 3rd world is a good thing.

      • Slickfoot

Because the leftists want one world government, and if that happens to be a 3rd world, so be it.

      • Alain

They working very hard to make that happen.

      • There is something about raw sewage in the streets…

    • Justin St.Denis

I also think the Christianity has gone underground (or been driven undeground) by hostile political forces, and is not nearly as “reduced” as the PTB and the MSM would have us believe.

Then again, I have been wearing TWO crucifixes and ONE cross around my neck for the last 40 years, so maybe I am biased.

One doesn’t have to be a believer. Leaving the religious basis and justification aside, it’s produced a societal culture that works very well. It’s not always perfect, but the institutionalized corruption, thievery, violence, petty tyranny and injustice prevalent throughout much of the rest of the world (even ‘developed’ nations) is remarkably absent.

Obviously Judeo-Christians have been doing something right.

        • DavidinNorthBurnaby

For one thing, the Judeo-Christian emphasis on an individual’s relationship with G-d helped foster the concept of individual liberty as opposed to tribalism with its pack mentality.

While I can’t engage in truth talking when I’m at work or in so called polite company I have found that I can when I’m out in the country sitting by a fire with people I have just met.

        • Justin St.Denis

Sounds like the kind of environment in which I feel my prayers are heard by the Almighty particularly clearly. I have had near-mystical experiences under the stars…..

      • I have a fumie in my room.

During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, being a Christian in Japan was illegal. Christians were rooted by a simple test. A fumie – a metal representation of Jesus/Mary- was placed on the ground. Someone was asked to step on it. If they refused, they were found (or accused) to be Christian and were summarily executed.

Personally, I would have said I had to run home for my fumie-stepping socks but I digress….

I think similar tests are in our future.

        • V10_Rob

Steven Crowder pitched a simple test: Everyone has to draw Mohammed. It can be flattering, it can be insulting, but you have to put pencil to paper if you want to enter the country.

I’m sure the more… hmmm… sophisticated and cynical?… jihadists could rationalize aside their blasphemy and get past it, but it couldn’t hurt in locking out the true believers who form the explosively disposable rank and file.

          • DavidinNorthBurnaby

            Like this?

          • That sounds like a challenge to me…

    • DMB

It’s what gave us in the west the high living standards we have today thanks to their hard work and ingenuity. Once that is gone so will our high living standards.

“White Christian America is dying”, proclaims Obama as he tees off on the first hole. His erection is clearly visible to the players on the back nine.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a flashlight in his pocket.

The media elites hate the Christian faith. When they talk about the decline of the church they use their leftist buddies in the main line churches as an example. Yes, the old liberal churches are declining. But its because they have abandoned the faith, reject scripture, and are more interested in social causes like whiny indians, global warming scams, muslims, and other socialist issues. The evangelical churches are doing just fine. And the Christian faith is exploding in popularity in many parts of the world.

What’s beautiful is that the media elites are dying faster because of the internet and their corrupt world view.

  • DavidinNorthBurnaby

But remember, the fifties were horrible because it didn’t take two incomes to get by and faggots weren’t parading naked in the road.

  • Hard Little Machine

As a non Christian sort of white not really naturalized American I don’t have a dog in this fight. I care about a normal peaceful operating non violent stable society that’s fair and the government and people leave me alone to the extent I wish.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

The Judeo Christian tradition makes it possible for you to not have that dog.
