How Ghostbusters Exposed Blatant Media Bias

The new Ghostbusters film may lose as much as $70 million for Sony when all is said in done. Possibly much more.

If that comes as a surprise to you, don’t feel ashamed. You’ve probably been reading press accounts about the film for the past few weeks.

Media bias thrives in both news and entertainment coverage.

They won’the learn the important lesson: the message is secondary to entertaining the audience.

Entertainment has only 1 job let the audience enjoy the performance and the messages will take care of themselves

    • Seemed doomed from the start.

        Didn’t have to be.
        They could have cast better.

Cast was irrelevant, premise was the problem.

Leslie Jones is an A-lister? On what planet? 😉

          • John

Yeah, but even the second Ghostbusters starring the original cast did not come close to the box office of the first one. Sometimes there’s only so much that can be squeezed from a franchise.

And Leslie Jones is a turn-off.

      • Dana Garcia

Yep, really a dumb idea. Only Hollyweird libberdoodles thought the concept would work.

When one entertainment reporter asked Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, if his movies had a message, he replied, “If I want to send a message, I’ll call up Western Union.”

It had been done, well… Find something else to do, be original, cripes.

  • It was a bad idea from the get-go.

The thing is is that Hollywood is bereft of ideas or innovation. No one is a story-teller anymore. He/She is an agenda or trend-setter. It’s flash and money.

Audiences have shown that they want more.

Agreed. I wonder if a crowd sourced movie/TV episode on YouTube would garner eyeballs?

Net Budget of the film was $144m
Reported marketing cost of the film $100m
Gross take (august 12) worldwide $182m

Theaters take half of the gross… they might cover the marketing cost soon?

Was Bill Murray strong-armed into making a cameo appearance? With the exception of Thelma and Louise ‘buddy movies’ can’t be transformed into feminist reboots.

Sony seems to be in the propaganda industry because they don’t seem to care about their shareholders.
