Ontario now mirroring Quebec’s economy, report says

The East is underwater and taking Canada down with it.

Ontario’s economic picture is becoming more like Quebec in all the wrong ways, says a new study from the Montreal Economic Institute. Now it’s even dragging down national averages.

It was bad enough when Canada’s most populous province started receiving equalization payments in 2009. But now it’s gotten worse. It used to be that economically troubled Quebec was urged to be more like Ontario. It was good advice back then. And in many respects they took it … and went in the wrong direction.

And all our street signs are in French too. They’ve taken over.

Don’t worry. After Notley and Justin wipe out Alberta completely, then Ontario’s future 15% unemployment is going to look pretty good!

But we have great homosexual parades, and the daily stabbings and shootings in Torontostan are always a great source of entertainment.

They were great, weren’t they? Down in a Tube Station, Eton Rifles, Going Underground … but underrated, it seems to me.

I grew up in Toronto when nothing was open on Sunday, booze was handed to my Dad wrapped in brown paper from behind a counter, and you couldn’t stand in a bar with a beer.

But SO friggin boring without the daily stabbings and shootings.

If what she does destroys the equalization plan, then she has done only one good thing. Then it will be time to move to alberta.

Sorry, I don’t share your optimism.
The only thing equalization has done is entrench the attitude of most provinces that they have to race to the bottom.

  • You voted for it, Quebec and Ontario.
