The truth about humanitarian aid to Gaza

The reports surrounding the arrest of Mohammad Halabi, director of the Gaza branch of the humanitarian organization World Vision, have sent shockwaves throughout the globe. This is a well-known, worldwide charity organization — one of the world’s largest in fact — that purports to help third world children.

As it turns out, when it comes to the Gaza Strip, the money donated by charitable individuals in Europe, Australia and the U.S. went mainly to help Hamas’ military wing. Among other things, the money was used toward purchasing weapons in Sinai, digging attack tunnels and paying the salaries of terrorists and their families.

The Hamas murderers did not stop there. They accepted thousands of food packages as well as other supplies intended for the poor. When devout Christian worshippers in churches across the U.S. donated a dollar or two to “those poor children,” the smiling faces on the receiving end were Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

            can’t get enough of it

There are no legitimate charities in the M.E. that are not explicitly Christian, and even then, you need to look hard and ensure they are not controlled by Muslims and the aid diverted to jihad.
I don’t think I would trust any Lebenese Christian charities anymore.

I used to support WV until I found out their president was pulling in a cool $33K+/Year.

As I’ve said on here before, if you take twenty bucks out of your wallet and give it to a rubby on Yonge Street, you’ll have done more for humanity than if you gave a thousand bucks to an international ‘charity’.

I only contribute to one humanitarian organization, Sally’s Army, believe it to be the least corrupt.

  • Norman_In_New_York

UNRWA was the original welfare scam and things took off from there. Our governments are just as guilty as World Vision of squandering money on Gaza and the Palestinian Authority. None have been held to account for the waste and perverse use of our tax and charity dollars.

Humanitarian aid is supposed to be for human beings, not savages. Just saying….

I once had a conversation with a high-ranking member of an international aid organisation regarding payoffs and theft of donated goods in the country being given aid. His view was that even if 99% of donations was stolen before reaching the target, the aid was still worthwhile doing since you might get that 1% to people that really did need it.

      • Alain

I witnessed exactly that when working and living in Africa, which is why I remain opposed to any kind of government foreign aid.

I believe that once you have this belief that any level of ‘costs’ associated with aid justifies even a minuscule amount of aid reaching a worthy recipient, then you are in trouble. Once you have this belief, then you can make yourself believe that any amount stolen by corrupt officials in the recipient country is acceptable, and that any money expended by the aid organisation is worthwhile. Thus we have aid organisations with huge executive salaries, with staff flying business or first class travel to exotic locations to stay in four star hotels to ‘assess’ the small proportion of aid reaching the poor.

But World Vision employed and probably still employs Dalton McGuinty’s daughter as a manager when he was the Premier.

He was even promoting the group when he was the Premier.

A Liberal Premier wouldn’t promote a corrupt organization, now would he?

I refuse to support any charities. They are ALL a complete scam. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about giving back but in my own way and in my own time. The Red Cross squandered hundreds of millions of dollars in Haiti, MSF have become active players in the Syrian war, the United Way is nothing more than a scratch and sniff fest for Toronto’s stupidly wealthy, the vast majority of the day to day charities are utter scams. The only one I will give a coin to is Just Socks.
Further to that I’m surprised that Hamas don’t have a go fund me page by now.
