Catholic Priest: Christians Have A Moral Duty To Defeat Terror

A Catholic priest has called for Christians to take a stand against Islamic terror, arguing that pacifism in the face of mortal danger is immoral and un-Christian.

Tis priest is right, he may be defrocked for his efforts though. Pope hopey changey won’t like this…..

The priest is an American, far removed from Europe’s snotty moralism.

T’is past time we beat those ploughs into swords, folks…

Paragraph 2263 of the Catechism reads: “The legitimate defence of persons and societies is not an exception to the prohibition against the murder of the innocent that constitutes intentional killing.”

The next continues: “Love toward oneself remains a fundamental principle of morality. Therefore it is legitimate to insist on respect for one’s own right to life. Someone who defends his life is not guilty of murder even if he is forced to deal his aggressor a lethal blow.

The incorrect translation of Hebrew, which is Thou shall not commit murder to Thou shall not kill is where a serious problem starts.

Nearly 400 years ago, John Harvard required his divinity students to learn the Bible in the original Hebrew to avoid falling for these mistranslations.

Refreshing. Especially refreshing to see this viewpoint coming from a priest: Onward Christian soldiers!

A truly moral and intelligent stance is typical of every priest I have met, not to mention the advanced levels of true academic philosophical training they must achieve, far beyond the imagination of most average people.

It’s the haters of Christians who with their polemics endlessly magnify the failings of a small minority. Really sad, since this attitude has turned so many who have had little contact with and knowledge of Christianity in their lives against it.

  • Thank you, Father Rutler.

The world is desperate for this kind of man to be The Pope.
