One Big Happy Riot – The Democrats try to spin dysfunction as triumph.

Behold the Democrats: party of the people, party of progress, party of the perpetually aggrieved. In Philadelphia yesterday, they kicked off their quadrennial convention, in the process reminding everyone that they are also the party in power. The task before them is formidable: to sell Americans on the notion that eight years of Democratic rule have left the country better off, while at the same time convincing swing voters in Ohio and Florida that a host of ills—from patriarchy and institutional racism to corporate greed and police brutality—plague us still, and require ever greater levels of government intervention to solve.

The argument lends itself to cognitive dissonance.

Hillary screwed over the Bernie supporters and even got them to like it. Lolz.

Wonder if and when this hale and hearty successor party to the Party Of Slavery, the Copperheads, gangsters, corrupt civic machines, and Catholic immigrant voting bloc – sleazy patronage dispensers plans to apologize for its malodourous origins and practices ?
No doubt if it was the GOP that carried such stains from the past, the DemocRats would be in high dudgeon and be demanding extensive public confession and self abasement.

At least, the planned fart-in has run out of gas.

They went to the media tent.
      Much smaller and more effective.

I’ve been pretty disappointed in the riots up until now.

But I guess I should not have been. In 1968 you had real issues – War in Viet Nam – and genuine, very smart, people like Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin. Now?

Bunch of beta males caring and sharing up on the barricades exchanging selfies. The Bernie Bros are keyboard warriors easily frightened off by a bit of rain and a school marm – and the Dems are packed with school marms – saying “Well that is just inappropriate.”

    Hilly will cluck on,

That’s quite a fine tightrope to have to walk. So many malcontents under nearly eight years of Obama. And the mindless masses of Democrats can’t figure that out. Their solution, let’s hire another version of Obama for the job.
