Trump vs. the Accepted Wisdom

Everything has changed, save the commentariat’s way of thinking. That’s why, when the Brexit vote confounded the chattering classes and Pauline Hanson rose again, the reaction was one of outraged bafflement. Trump will soon increase that dyspepsia by an order of magnitude

Last Wednesday, President Obama said “the world has never been less violent…than it is today.” He didn’t explain his precise measure but asked us to “think about” the fact that “it has been decades since a war between major powers.” I am underwhelmed by this presidential insight. In fact, it is a disturbing line of argument. Let me extend it to show how disturbing it is.

At this point anyone telling Trump how to run a campaign is like telling Vangough how to paint a sunflower.

    • Oh but they will.

    • Maggat

      Good one!

He is kicking over the chess board.

DNC live convention coverage…loon whack insanity… they do not talk they scream

“Bernie Sanders supporters at the Democratic National Convention claim
people are seizing pro-Sanders signs in an effort to suppress the heavy
support he is receiving on the convention floor.”

CNN re DNC : “Michelle O’s children play on a lawn built by slaves”

Guess Daniel Pipes has run away to find his “safe space”. Funny how someone who is supposed to be highly intellectual would resist changing the status quo. Anyone with a couple of brain cells still functioning can see that Trump is the best vote.

As for Obama, he is becoming more delusional by the day as yesterday, on Face the Nation, CBS he said he thought he was the “best he’s ever been as president” and doing a mighty fine job – only in his little world.

    • Clink9

It will be great to see obamy swept into the dustbin of history.

      • Alain

        Still too good for him.

      • Justin St.Denis

Not a deep enough hole. I still favour graves for him and his totalitarian ilk.

Has Danie Pipes gone off the rails?
I tell ya, Trump is some kind of “phoney” detector.
He would have been Holden Caulfield’s best friend and God incarnate.

  • Clausewitz

The Progressives have so isolated themselves from the masses over the years that they no longer have a clue as to what the issues are. They’ve gone from tacit attempts at trying to understand the common man to outright contempt. Sadly 47% of the people in the US are beholding to their DemoKKKrat masters, and this leaves a small margin that will be made up with ongoing voter fraud. I fear for the everyman in the US.

We had this once already in Canada over the “Meech Lake referendum”.

All the parties and all the newspapers and all the pundits and all the electronic media were all in favour of it and promoting it fully and it lost. (Too bad that spirit didn’t last.)

    • Alain

Exactly why we have been refused a referendum on any major issue ever since.

      • Clausewitz

And that’s why Junior will avoid a referendum on electoral reform.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

I remain optimistic that electoral reform will never get rubber stamped by the senate or the governor general.
It will never get Royal Assent.
Think the Queen had nothing to do with brexit?

          • El Martyachi

I think pretty much anything can get rubber stamped today. Diff’t times…

      • dance…dancetotheradio

I just want one western province to say bullshit, we’re leaving.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Wasn’t Meech Lake derailed by one indian saying no?

      • andycanuck

Yes, Dance. And you just reminded me I’m pretty sure all the Provinces were on-board for the “real” Meech deal too.

[And that’s why I used the quotes around it because I couldn’t be bothered to look-up the “official” name for Mulroney’s referendum. Oooh, just struck me… “Mulroney’s referendum”. 🙂 ]

        • dance…dancetotheradio

I’ve never understood why Quebec felt it wants and needs special status within Confederation.
I am part French and have no need to feel more equal than other Canadians.
