France is fed up with terror – and bureaucracy

Living in France is a lottery. The chances of getting a losing ticket are very slim, but a chance it is all the same. Twenty four hours before the slaughter in Nice, I took my daughter to the Bastille celebrations in the southern suburb of Paris in which we live. The centrepiece of the celebration was a parade through the town centre finishing in the town square. On arrival the kids in the parade leapt up on stage and sang La Marseillaise before trooping off into the embrace of their parents.

Judging by the death toll, it looks like the immigrants are fed up with the French.

OK, so France is fed up with the situation. Fine, so what in the hell are they going to do about it?

Well it’ll be small things.Ahmed will see a notable drop in business. Then the bank or caisse populaire manager will call him in and say so sorry but we’re reducing your credit line and o by the way we’re calling in one of your loans.

In the smaller municipalities health and safety inspectors will check the restaurants and fine them or shut them down for a day or 2 for fumigation.

      And so on

We’ll see just how fed up they are next spring. First round of Presidential elections is April 23, 2017.
