Germany to toughen its rape laws in the wake of Cologne New Year sex attacks by migrant mobs

Germany is to toughen its rape laws in the wake of the Cologne New Year sex attacks carried out by migrant mobs.

The German parliament is set to pass legislation broadening the definition of sex crimes and making it easier to deport foreign nationals who commit them.

It comes after a rash of sexual assaults in crowds on New Year’s Eve in the western city of Cologne and following years of debate on the need for tougher treatment of rape by the criminal justice system.
