‘Make America Great Again’ whiteboard messages deemed ‘racial attack’ by campus bias response team
A series of messages left on dry-erase whiteboards at Skidmore College during the spring semester saying “Make America Great Again” were deemed racially motivated attacks, a determination made by the school’s Bias Response Group.
The report concluded that while the group “acknowledges that political speech is free and protected … [t]hese seemingly connected reports suggest a pattern of using the idea of political speech to target specific members of the Skidmore community with biased messaging. As such, the [group] does not interpret these messages as political speech but as racialized, targeted attacks.”
Charlie Daniels’ Cowboy Logic on Orlando, Obama and Our Future
“I fear that the recent attack on the nightclub in Orlando, Florida signals a new direction in America’s struggle with radical Islamic terror, and something that our president has neither the stomach nor the motivation to deal with.
The lone wolf method of terror requires neither a trip abroad to an ISIS training camp nor extensive instruction about how to build and detonate sophisticated explosive devices. It just requires a martyr mentality, an adequate weapon and the willingness to commit mass murder.”
Gun Control Pushing Dem Wants To Ban Rifles W/ Barrel Shroud-But Has No Idea What They Do
Friday morning’s Fox and Friends saw Tucker Carlson interviewing Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), a fierce advocate for stricter gun laws. The two began their discussion about the recent Democratic Party sit-in, and eventually shifted to the Democrat’s recent proposal for an assault weapons ban. Cicilline listed the components of a weapon that made it an “assault weapon” but had no idea of the function of what he wants to ban.
According to Cicilline, a barrel shroud is one of the elements that make a rifle an assault weapon, but when pressed he kept evading the question about what a barrel shroud does (a barrel shroud is a safety feature which slips over that the barrel of a gun to prevent the person handling the weapon from burning their hand on a hot barrel).
Chelsea Manning critiques US military reforms for transgender personnel
As the highest-profile transgender individual in the armed services today, Manning’s criticisms carry particular weight within the debate around opening up the military. The army soldier said she responded to the defense secretary Ash Carter’s announcement of the rule change on Thursday with initial relief, followed by a dawning concern.
Writing for the Guardian from her prison cell in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where she is serving a 35-year sentence for leaking US state secrets to WikiLeaks, Manning raised two main objections to the revised policies.
Majority of Democrats want third term for Obama
Seventy percent of Democrats want President Obama to run for a third term, a new poll published Thursday revealed.
Although not legally possible, the fact that a large majority of Democratic voters prefer Obama to Clinton does not bode well for the Democratic front-runner. Clinton often has a short lead against Trump in the polls, but third party challengers from the Green and Libertarian Parties cut into Clinton’s lead, giving Trump the advantage.
Ashamed to be an American? Towns crack down on American pride
The Star-Spangled Banner survived the rocket’s red glare and bombs bursting in air – only to face a modern-day threat – silly town ordinances and petty bureaucrats.
I’m not sure if it’s an epidemic of anti-American nincompoopery sweeping across the fruited plain or if it’s a general lack of common sense. Maybe it’s both. I’ll let you be the judge of that.
Study: top colleges don’t require US history courses for history majors
U.S. History is not a staple course for history majors at most top universities, according to a new report from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA).
ACTA found that less than one third of U.S. News & World Report’s top 25 liberal arts colleges, top 25 national universities, and top 25 public institutions require U.S. history as a requirement for history majors.
Many institutions instead specify that history majors must take classes in areas outside of the United States. History majors at Williams College have the option of taking “Soccer and History in Latin America: Make the Beautiful Game” and students at Swarthmore may enroll in “Modern Addiction: Cigarette Smoking in the 20th Century” in order to fulfill history major requirements.
Al Qaeda chief: “Consequences” if Boston bomber executed
Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri warns in a newly-released video that American citizens will suffer consequences if their government executes Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, or any other Muslim prisoners.
Speaking in a video the terror group had hoped to released months earlier, the white-bearded Egyptian jihadist says such a capital punishment would bring “the gravest of consequences upon” American citizens.
Hamas leader calls to drive all Jews out of Israel
Zahar told Iran’s FARS news agency that a day dedicated to liberating Jerusalem from the Jews should not only be a single day every year, but it should happen every day, and Muslims must never forget Jerusalem for even a minute.
He then added, “Those with the proper priorities have driven out the Jews from Gaza in 2005, and inshallah they will remove them from Palestine and Jerusalem, God willing.”
Zahar did not say “Israelis” or “Zionists,” but “Jews.”
College and catering firm apologise after Muslim student bites into bacon sandwich
Usmaan Akram a student at Preston’s College says he was disgusted when he realised what he had done.
“It was in a plain packet and I thought it was the tuna one I normally buy.
“It was labelled tuna.
“When I went back to the staff they said it was halal chicken so I got a friend who is non-Muslim to check it and he confirmed it was bacon.
OBAMA: ‘People Will Look Back… And See I Was Right And Trump Was Wrong’
‘I said on election night back in Grant Park, I’m president of everybody,’ Obama recalled to NPR. ‘I’ve got a particular point of view…I don’t make any apologies for it.’
Obama said he believes he’s kept that promise.
‘And the core of that message is “e pluribus unum,” out of many, one, that — that we are better when we are together, that I do not believe in tribalism. I do not believe in stoking divisions and scapegoating.’
