Update: Local police: no shots fired, lockdown out of “abundance of caution” – Officials at Andrews are still considering the situation active, but local police are now saying they believe the lockdown was the result of confusion over the security drill that was underway.
US military Joint Base Andrews, just outside of Washington, DC, has been put on lockdown due to reports of an active shooter. All personnel has been instructed to shelter in place.
Known as “America’s airfield,” Andrews is the home base of Air Force One, the airplane used by US presidents.
