After Orlando: assault rifles are not to blame

As the facts about the horrific shooting in Orlando have surfaced, some familiar themes have emerged in the media responses. Many right-wing commentators have blamed radical Islam. But their voices have been drowned out by politicians, celebrities and the Twitterati, who are attacking the ‘real villain’ of the piece: assault rifles.
Forget Omar Mateen, the disturbed murderer. Forget the Islamic State, which has since claimed responsibility. It was the Colt AR-15, and its evil sponsors, the National Rifle Association (NRA), who are to blame.

Disney finds , kills 4 alligators
how many alligators have to die because of one radicalized alligator?…unfair!

    • They need a better lobby.

      • moraywatson

The future does not belong to those who slander the gators of Disney.
Gators are the reptiles of peace.
Tick-tock (pbuh) is the perfect croc. Just like mohammad was perfect crock.
        (Am I hired ?)

Overheard in DisneyWorld Peon Level Employees Comissary:
“This Chicken a la King” is really good. The kitchen suppliers must have found a new source that really know what they are doing.”

    • Clausewitz

Alligator kills child, the blame is clearly that of the NRA and assault weapons. More film from Obama at 11.

    • infedel

gators are a species of piece.

    • ontario john

And where was Harper and the Jews when this happened. Or is this a direct result of global warming.

    • WalterBannon

White Disney employees killed a black alligator.

      Black Alligators Matter.

  • Clausewitz

Yeah, the big bad .223 mean looking rifle that kids can shoot easily is not the boogie man the girlie MSM makes it out to be.

      • Surele Surele

        have to get me one

        • Everyone loves to give advice and I’m no different, so for what it’s worth: get one from a good (top 5) AR-15 manufacturer. (look that up – it might not be the names you’d suspect) You’re better off with a well built entry level firearm than one looks cool but isn’t reliable.

There’s a good company in Maine that specializes in high quality, cost-competitive AR-15s. ‘Course, if you have an unlimited budget, go for the works!

          But hurry.

  • The consistent thread that runs through almost all mass murders is Gun Free Zones aka Killing Zones. I wonder why that is?

    • moraywatson

Because they are gun free zones, but not muzzie-loader free zones.

      • For some reason (!), the media is treating Orlando like Sandy Hook and Charleston, when it’s actually completely different. Orlando was Islamic terrorism, and the others were the result of mental problems. What the media won’t say – and we all know – is that Islamic terrorists will kill with the available weapon. They may use a semi-automatic rifle, or a suicide vest, or a moving car, or rocks, or tall buildings, or box cutters, but in the end their victims are dead for the glory of Allah.

Giving them Gun Free Zones to work with is like keeping gasoline by the wood stove. Sooner or later something bad is going to happen.

        • Linda1000

The most glaring example is the muslim terrorist Fort Hood shooter who killed all the soldiers inside the gun free army base. If other soldiers had been carrying, the muslime would have been taken out after his first shot. Unfortunately, the creep lived but at least he’s in a wheelchair. Maybe the Boston marathon bombing was gun free also? With Hillary in charge, muslim jihadis are going to have field day with their ongoing attacks. Just look at their track record so far since 9/11.

    • Linda1000

So tired of all this idiot gun grabbing nonsense.

      • It’s pretty clear to me that no matter who is elected, we’re going to lose some rights. Nationwide registration would not surprise me. I don’t know how they’re going to handle the millions – some say 3, some say 10 – of AR-15s and similar weapons already in civilian hands. Buyback or confiscation?

The no-fly list gun ban scares me because there’s no jurisprudence involved: some faceless bureaucrat decides you can’t fly or own firearms, and there’s no recourse. That is the perfect recipe for political persecution: disarm your enemies, them send groups like #BLM and Reconquistas to their homes – as we saw Occupy do.

        • simus1

There is already a viable precedent from post WW1 USA when the sawed off shotgun was a common low cost protection choice for car using traveling salesmen on deserted country roads and bar owners operating in rough areas, among others. A huge tax was imposed on the weapons without any reality based excuse and the rest is pi$tol maker$ history (?).

An AR-15 is a semi auto hunting rifle not an assault rifle but to Lieberals and their ilk, it is vewy scary when they peek through their fingers at a picture of one.

          • Clausewitz

An assault rifle needs a lot more punch than a .223 caliber round.

        • Linda1000

I think the gov’t will be forced to confiscate. Good luck with that and quicker than Washington can blink, citizen militias will spring up all over. Any Feds brave enough to walk on to private property and demand guns to be handed over would have to be some kind of special stupid. I think Trump said that the no-fly list gun ban needs to be changed to allow some kind of exit clause or for people to have their names removed if they can prove they are incorrectly on it? Washington wants anarchy or a civil war they are going to get it because they have no idea how pissed regular Americans are after eight years of Obama and corrupt Washington politics. In this next election, if there is even a hint that Hillary wins by some deceptive means or if anything happens to Trump, you will see blowback. Also, the gun grab will not work as the industry will just go underground or like drugs, arms will come in across the southern border.
I don’t know, I’m sitting here in Canada making wild guesses but I do want to see Trump as the next President because I think he will at least attempt to tackle some of the major problems like immigration, economy, etc. It would be nice he gave Trudope a good slap in the head also. Hillary would be the worst possible choice for the U.S. and likely worse than Obama.

          • Clausewitz

There’s reason why the Feds have been buying both hollow point and Teflon tipped rounds. Will not believe Obama will actually walk away from power until it happens.

          • Linda1000

DHS seems to have bought large quantities ammo in the last few years so it makes one wonder if the purchase were for legit purposes. It would take some extraordinary gall by the U.S. gov’t. to start killing a few million of their own citizens to force gun control. I think Ozero will go but he’ll do everything in his power to ensure Hillary wins. While he stays in Washington, he’ll continue interfering as much as possible or maybe directing Hillary.

  • ontario john

I think Osama Obama’s logic should be brought to diverse multi cultural Toronto. All types of knives should be banned. That should stop the daily stabbings there. After all, people don’t stab people, knives stab people.

The term “assault rifle” if it has any real definition at all means a military rifle, chanmbered in an intermediate (ie low power) cartridge with selective fire (semi or full auto) capability and fed from detachable box magazines.

People reading this probably already know this, but (Godwin alert!) the term was actually coined by Adolph Hitler!!! IN WW2 the Germans came up with a new rifle with these characheterisitcs and called it the Machine Pistol model of 1944. Hitler saw it and decided it should be called an Sturm Gehwer instead. True story. I can only imagine lefty heads exploding if they knew that Hitler “invented” the assault rifle (which an AR15 isn’t because it is only semi auto, like a myriad of non evil rifles.
