Groups Ask Trudeau For An Inquiry Into Afghan Detainees

An inquiry in 2012 concluded that no specific Canadian personnel was guilty of torture but why let that stop anyone?

A coalition of human rights advocates and current and former parliamentarians and diplomats is calling on the Liberals to launch a public inquiry into the handling of Afghan detainees.

The group released an open letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday, saying it’s time for him to do what the previous government would not — hold a full and open investigation into the policies and practices around Canada’s transfer of captured Afghans to local authorities during the war in Kandahar.

Allegations those detainees were abused, in violation of international law, first surfaced publicly in 2007.

To what extent the Canadian military and government were aware of and ignored that fact, and what actually happened to the Afghans, was the subject of nearly five years of investigation by the military and Parliament.

  • I am sure Justin will accommodate them.

    • That is the fear, yes.

    • Exile1981

If by ‘accommodate’ you mean hold a public witch hunt to demonize our military then yes.

Despite Canadian police services generally being a joke these days, I am certain police unions and administrations are taking notes. They will be next in the crosshairs The Left eats its own – just because that is how the Americans, whom Canadians are forever aping, do it.

        Told you so. 😉

Even listening to these activists is just more proof why the West is no longer capable of fighting and winning a war.

    • Justin St.Denis

Not really. It’s just more proof of how doggedly Canada and Canadians follow in the USA’s footsteps. As I have observed recently, Canadians have been incapable of innovation for about four decades now. But they sure can ape the Americans/American Left.

Thank God this isn’t a TV show because it would be cancelled if it was. Too derivative, too boring, too predictable, too…….Canadian.

Five years of investigation wasn’t enough?

This is a witch hunt against our soldiers, plain and simple.

These weasels must be linked to the Afghanistani that was the mastermind for the Toronto-18 muslim terrorist that wanted to use truck bombs to slaughter thousands because Chretien had our troops in Afghan killing their Muslim brothers in the Taliban .

These groups are NEVER upset at the quranic barbarism to gays and women that is being practised by the taliban.
The BLM terrorist in Toronto are tied to the Muslim Brotherhood because that was the plan in the 1950 to get into N.America and exploit the low IQ Blacks that islam is the faith of Blacks while the Jew and Christians belong to the White man’s faith.

First, we need a verified and complete list of all Afghans detainees who were subjected to the claimed indignities. If the group cannot provide this, their demands should be ‘recycled’.

    Cheers

It’s alchemy! “Allegations” transmuted to “fact” in two sentences.

    • Justin St.Denis

Correct. And they say those of us who insist that literacy is key to protecting freedom and individual liberty are “grammar nazis”.

I hope some commenters pick up on this…..

Pity these professional agitators could not also be turned over to similar “local authorities to be debriefed”. No doubt the results would be both fascinating and very informative.
