These Americans are preparing for battle…against their own government

REDMOND, Ore. — B.J. Soper took aim with his AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and fired a dozen shots at a human silhouette target. Soper’s wife and their 16-year-old daughter practiced drawing pistols. Then Soper helped his 4-year-old daughter, in pink sneakers and a ponytail, work on her marksmanship with a .22-caliber rifle.

Deep in the heart of a vast U.S. military training ground, surrounded by spent shotgun shells and juniper trees blasted to shreds, the Central Oregon Constitutional Guard was conducting its weekly firearms training.

“The intent is to be able to work together and defend ourselves if we need to,” said Soper, 40, a building contractor who is an emerging leader in a growing national movement rooted in distrust of the federal government, one that increasingly finds itself in armed conflicts with authorities.

Mr. Soper understands what few Canadians understand: that the government is NEVER EVER your friend. It doesn’t matter who is supposedly running the show, the government is never your friend. Depending on who is running the show, the danger varies, but it is always there especially due to an unelected bureaucracy and courts.

Mind you, the MSM has been predicting a right-wing revolution out of the Militia Movement for the past 40 years yet it never seems to occur.

40 years.. that’s roughly when the left-wing clinched the culture war victory.

Although I sympathize, it’s really quite crazy. The time to turn back the state is not when the state is knocking down your door – that’s way too late. If all these people are doing is ‘prepping’ for that time then they aren’t actually helping to achieve the end goal they say they want. In fact all they are achieving is to allow the statists to lump all anti-statists in together and label them “crazy loners with guns”.

The real anti-statists are those who build private companies that supply stuff that people want on the free market – especially the stuff that the state supplies, but poorly. These ‘preppers’ sound like people who want to destroy rather than to build.

While I do agree with you, there is only do much you can do in the realm of the economic and political. See the story ‘Revolution’ Possible in 2043 When Whites Become Minority in U.S.’ in the tips line from last night. There are lots of people who want us dead. And there will be lots more who want us dead when they are the majority. Tribalism wins over civic virtue every time.

      • Brett_McS

That’s just a variation of the prepper approach: when it gets to the point where only tribal loyalties apply it is again too late. Also “inevitablism” is a Marxian trademark in that, although wrong, it lends a false sense of seriousness to an argument.

Nothing can be done in the political realm – in fact that’s where the damage is done. The two free-market realms are culture and economics. These work almost unseen, but, perhaps in part because of that, they are more powerful influences.

Again,I agree with what you say. Maybe you are more optimistic than I am. Demographics will decide everything. Mexicans are not going to stop being Mexicans when they move to the US. Muslims are still muslims when they move to Canada. Society is trending more statist all the time and it appears that is what people want.

I think we conservatives are now the outsiders looking in and I believe we always will be. For our own security and sanity the best option is to retreat from the public sphere and look out for ourselves. I know this sounds defeatist, but I believe it is better to just accept it and go on with your life.
