In Ontario, it’s flying unicorns for everyone

Ontario’s Liberal government may as well decree everyone in their province will receive a free flying unicorn and that sugar-free, organic lemonade will flow from kitchen taps. They’d have no less chance of keeping those promises than of keeping the promise – leaked Monday – of eliminating natural gas furnaces and gasoline powered cars by 2030.

In the minds of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and her Environment Minister Glenn Murray, it’s as if there exist two equally practical and convenient ways of heating homes, powering manufacturing plants and fueling vehicles and planes. One is carbon-based energies such as oil, coal and natural gas, while the other is alternate sources such as wind, solar and cow farts.

President Maduro of Venezuela has nothing on the Wynne – Murray brain trust that is leading Ontario to Utopia.

    • We might be better off in Venezuela – at least it’s warmer there.

      • Things are certainly going downhill.

It’s getting pretty warm in Winnipeg.

GLLKDW as a hopeless political disaster should be very helpful in removing her and her clique from office in any normal political situation.

    • Alain

When you do not have a real alternative to them, I see no hope. The PCs refuse to be an alternative party.

      • simus1

The unforeseen, unexpected, Mike Harris election victory and the three years when he did what he promised to do so unnerved the back room PC Ontario movers and shakers that they still have nightmares. No repeat of that winning scenario will be tolerated, thank you very much.

Mike Harris was BRILLIANT as a provincial premier. I saw entire “ministry initiatives” across the board wiped out with nary a whimper because civil servants KNEW that a lot of these “initiatives” amounted to little more than a “round robin bumfuck”. Many people lost their (useless bumfuckery) jobs. It was an invigorating time to witness, quite frankly, and I was shocked at how many civil servants – both senior managers and professional staff – expressed their approval of the Harris downsizing of government to me privately.

The best premier Manitoba ever had was Duff Roblin so sayeth everyone because he built the floodway.
But, my favourite is Sterling Lyon.
            He was a proto-Trump.

        • Alain

Even a foreigner like Trump has the same effect on the CPC, just as LePen does on all the francophone politicians. Truly pathetic!

I want to see that crook Wynne in prison where she belongs.

    • Yo Mama

She might be safer away from the muggers and murderers and instead put in with the child molesters whom I suspect would welcome zer.

    • Justin St.Denis

I’d be just as happy if she died suddenly.

  • Exile1981

Both Notley and Wynne keep assuming people are stupid. If
you replace 1500WM of coal ir natural gas power plant capacity with 1500 MW of wind capacity; your actually loosing 1200MW of capacity since wind runs at 20% of capacity.

    • Clausewitz

That and they have to shut the wind turbines down when it gets too windy. Who made that engineering decision?

      • Yo Mama

Probably Mike Crawley over a cup of coffee.

      • Exile1981

Its a safety feature to prevent the turbine from self destructibg.

    • Jaedo Drax

The nameplate capacity is only useful for a specific wind range, if you are outside that range, you either get not enough power causing brownouts, or too much velocity for the turbine to handle… no one will publish what the required wind speeds are, when they are quoting the nameplate capacity.

      • Exile1981

I know that, its the point I was making.

A recent Alberta gov’t study found that over the last 10 years the average output of the wind turbines in the province was 20% of rated capacity. Since a similar report showed 20% for Quebec as well, so we can use that 20% figure with confidence

        • dance…dancetotheradio

Not only that, you have to heat them in the winter so they are actually a big drag on the system in the prairies.

      Samsung never told them that

      • simus1

Samsung has no problems dealing with third world style politicians like GLLKDW or McGuilty

Just wait until her new educational carbon-reducing initiative for schools to teach children how to have sex with vegetables because they are biodegradable and don’t use electricity!

    Burl Ives has this covered:

  • Not to mention all the other $billion dollar boondoggles with legal ramifications, which have magically disappeared: E-health, Ornge, Gas plants, Smart meters, Green Energy program, missing e-mails and missing money — the list goes on and on.

Whenever I have cast my ballot I have never noticed a caveat at the top of the ballot:
“Warning: By casting your vote you are acquiescing to the elected Politician to conduct ANY SORT OF SOCIAL EXPERMIMENT on the citizenry that he/she deems appropriate without the consent of said citizens.”

It’s definitely like a “Millenarianist cult”. Heck, I’m still waiting for George Smitherman to make public his donours list — as required by law — from the Ford/Smitherman Mayoral race from way back when! The Libs are like cult leaders who are above the law and the constitution, and the citizenry is the involuntary prisoner of the cult forced to pay for the cult’s experiments.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Didn’t Smitherman kill his spouse by being an abusive bastard?

Well, there’s a lot of baby boomer overhang.
The flu shots take care of a lot of them in the nursing homes.
And energy poverty will freeze more to death.
