China to relocate two million people in bid to tackle poverty

China will this year relocate more than two million people from poverty-stricken communities to more developed urban areas as part of a wide-ranging plan to tackle poverty, a leading official said on Tuesday.

The relocation marks the first stage of ambitious proposals to move 10 million people from their rural backwaters as part of drive to eradicate poverty in China in the next four years.

“Many poor people live in harsh conditions or fragile environments,” Liu Yongfu, a member of China’s State Council, or Cabinet, said.

“The relocation will help them seek a better life,” he added, according to state news agency Xinhua.

China is relocating two million Chineese to alleviate poverty?
I absolutely do not believe that.

This is the same China that leaves people to die on the side of the road after minor traffic accidents, and whose motorists run over pedestrians multiple times because it’s cheaper to pay death benefits than it is to pay someone if you injure them.

    • Gulag bound.

You do not have Sunny Ways thinking. Trudeau has instructed us that China is our friend.

    • Unless the relocation is in a pit somewhere.

This isn’t fair. Europe hasn’t had time to put out the welcome mats and get the posters printed.

ChiComs probably got the idea from Obama — move in the poor “in search of a better life” to bust the white suburbs.

    • Ha!

      • Kathy Prendergast

…except there are no “white suburbs” to bust in China. What I expect to happen is this people will join the millions of rural migrants that camp out and live in generally appalling conditions on the edges of every large industrial city, in their quest for a better life. Because they are not documented city residents they can’t access any city services and many of their children can’t even go to school. But there is virtually no welfare system in China so they all work wherever and whenever they can, and some of them actually do manage to make it out of poverty. Chinese society’s greatest strength is its surviving work ethic.

There is a minimum wage. Workers do have rights probably more than those in arab and muslim countries. But mention china a place l would guess most of you have never been and hate comes gushing out. Then stop buying chinese products if its so f ing bad. You sell them your properties your cars your jewellery but you hate them. Save your hatred for the enemy on our doorstep – the marxists in our own countries and their muslim helpers.
Yes criticise but at least have some facts.
If you want to find the devil in this world then look st the states which works with terrorisy countries such ad saudi, iran. Look at hiw they manipulate the financial markets and commodities how they lie in court.
I support bcf for its stance on muzzies but this hatred for china is no difference from the stupid hatred muzzies have for jews. Base criticism on evidence. Do you know hk and china in filling up with french and other exoats because of marxist policies in europe. If the west goes muzzie this will be the only place Freeish. Thailand has saudi money going in. Philipines too. Indonesia is a shit hole. Cambodia and laos they are centuries behind.
          I could be wrong!?

I don’t hate China or the Chinese; I lived in China for four years. All I’m saying is that they have their work cut out for them if they really want to “eliminate poverty” in a country of well over a billion people. It’s a very tough place, always has been, and is likely to remain so for along time, for the vast majority of its people. But I agree that even its poorest are better off than the poor of many other Asian countries, and of the ME and especially Africa. One thing the Chinese seem to have going for them culturally is their refusal to tolerate idleness, esp. in young men; it is a disgrace for an able-bodied man not to work, and Chinese women are very hardworking too. There are many beggars there but they are nearly always elderly or disabled. They also have the genetic advantage of a high median IQ, as do their East Asian neighbours the Koreans and the Japanese.

China has a massive real estate bubble in which brand new buildings erected by speculators and property flippers remain vacant. Putting them to use in this manner is more cost effective than letting them rot.

Communism and fascists use the same methods. Move undesirables to special camps by trains.

I take a different view of this others here. We know that the Chinese government is the most admired government of short-pants Trudeau, since he said it himself. That being the case perhaps he will imitate them in forcing the relocation of those Indians remaining in areas of no work and no hope. It could even end up being very cost effective for the tax payers who support the Indians.

    Send them to San Diego.

    • Drunk_by_Noon

      Send them to HLM’s backyard!

A large number of these folks will likely wind up as labourers on foreign construction projects that have a strategic and low profile priority for the leaders in Beijing.
Greenfield ports, air bases and canals don’t dig themselves.
It won’t all be clear sailing. Read an article once in the past where Chinese Canadians were putting up a Canadian style demonstration residential subdivision somewhere in China and they had the devil’s own time to keep the “trades” straight that screws and nails were not the same, screws were not to be hammered in, and the drawings were not mere suggestions as to where either could be used at the installers discretion.

  • Kathy Prendergast

    Good luck with that.

  • P_F

Are they going to relocate these 2 million Chinese to Vancouver BC??

  • Shebel

Arn’t the Chinese considered to be ‘White’ nowadays by the Race mongers ?
