MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A trial of three young Somali-American men from Minnesota accused of trying to join ISIS began on Monday morning.
Mohammed Farah, Abdirahman Daud and Guled Omar all face charges, including conspiracy to travel overseas to commit murder. If found guilty on the murder charge, they could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
The three men were among the 10 original defendants in this case. Six others have taken plea deals.
Those deals, it appears, were not offered to the three defendants on trial. Court documents suggest that prosecutors believe the remaining three were the most involved in the plot.
