The Very Best Prince Performance You’ve Never Seen

It’s just genius. It’s just straight up musical genius.

First was made aware of Prince in the early-mid 70’s on Don Kirshnir’s Rock Concert; recognized his musical genius then but it never took with me. Still don’t and will never understand the glow or fuss about Prince and the same with the uber weirdo MJackson.

    • Well you know there is a great deal of difference between Michael Jackson and Prince.

The first time I heard Little Red Corvette it just sent me soaring. It was a completely unique sound. He was a prolific song-writer, and I can’t wait to hear some of the music he’d put aside in his vault. There’s probably enough material there to keep the guy on the airwaves for the next two decades. He recorded far, FAR more music than he ever released.

Yeah, I don’t get it. It’s not even musical.

    • Shebel

      I like the beat .
I just don’t like when he sings.

I guess you gotta be musician to appreciate his talent.
    I am not a musician.

I’ve a huge library of music from around the world. Prince is one of the few artists that really stands out as “international” in appeal insofar as being the most imitated/copied. My own musical preferences run in other directions, but Prince has always impressed me. Not every release, mind you. But some really ARE inspired. PURPLE RAIN, SIGN OF THE TIMES, and EMANCIPATION are three releases which I highly recommend.

On a final note, I would mention that Prince’s music is among my favorite “workout music”. I workout daily and have done so for many years. Prince has always been a “reliable” source of energizing music with which to accompany my efforts. 😉

I am a musician and in my youth not even the lure of a pretty girl who liked Prince could get me to like Prince.

Been a musician for some 49 years, still don’t get him. Can’t say that I’ve ever heard him lay down a righteous groove and hit the pocket at full throttle, ever. I wont deny that he has his niche, it’s just it’s never been my niche.

The clip was entertaining, yes. Evidence of geniusness, not so much.
But I really did like the bass & second guitar players’ synchronised showmanship; so thanks for that!

That was fucking AMAZING. We are so glad we got to see Prince live a few years ago. It remains among the top five concerts I have seen in my lifetime thus far, placing Prince in the exalted company of Vladimir Horowitz, Von Karajan, Peggy Lee, and Nina Simone. Not too shabby!
