Re: The 2016 Republican race

For those of you who have supported the Lone Star Committee’s independent expenditures and operations, I want to give you an overview of what we did, how it contrasted with other organizations’ efforts, and most importantly, how and why I believe the race has run its course with Donald Trump besting Ted Cruz as the presumptive GOP nominee. This includes an analysis of Cruz and Trump’s respective strategies, especially in the critical early voting states where we played a role.

How we got here

  • Good analysis.

The only reason that Trump has a hope in Hell..
Is because He is running against Traitors.

    • He’s running against a lot of em.

Why are you still reading the Weekly Standard?
        Billy Kristol?
Didn’t he play the first openly gay character on Soap?

    • jack burns

      Pretty big reason.

  • Brett_McS

That you can’t underestimate the general public? (to adapt a marketing maxim)

    • Clink9

Or underestimate the anger of Americans getting screwed by scumbags for 40 years.

      • Norman_In_New_York

Or suffering 25 years of losers.

  • Shebel

It would be nice for the Americans to have a President that is Not a Lap Dog.

If Trump can manoeuvre his way amongst the people and Win—

It pretty much says what the American people Want —-

Trump supports the establishment when he is out of politics; what do you think he will be when he is inside politics where the temptations to ‘go along’ are all the greater?

Meanwhile Cruz (aka Lucifer) is hated by the establishment when he is inside the political realm where all the pressures to go along and compromise on the principles that he said he would support have washed off him like water off a duck’s back (which is why Boehner hates him so).

    Hmmm, hard choice.

    • Clink9

But the choice has been by the people already. It’s Hillary vs Trump.

There obviously has to be thousands of people in the US better than those two to do the job, but ain’t happening for them.

really qualified competent people would not subject themselves to this circus
…media , apathetic voters to blame

        • Clink9

Yep, but we have to deal with the lumps of shit we’re given.

As the wise Austin Powers noted, I’d love a toilet made of solid gold, but it’s not in the cards.
