French soldier sliced by ‘Arabic-speaking man’

A soldier in eastern France has been attacked by an Arabic-speaking man wielding a box cutter, reports say.

The attack occurred on Saturday night near the central train station in Strasbourg, reported BFM TV.

At around 8pm, the man was reportedly walking in the same direction as some patrol troops when he turned around, sliced the face of one of the soldiers, then fled the scene.

The soldiers, who were patrolling the station as part of France’s heightened security measures following last year’s terror attacks, allowed the man to escape rather than risking the safety of the public or causing a stampede, they said.

The aggressor was reportedly speaking Arabic at the time, though did not say “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest) as has been the case in previous random attacks on soldiers and police in France.

    “High Alert”, indeed.
On a Saturday night no less.

If that happened in Israel the perp would be smelling up somebody’s morgue today. Looks like the French troops patrolling the streets are there for show, not for urban combat.

I’ve read that their rifles are unloaded so that’s very true.

I’ve heard that too. If it’s true, it’s pure folly.

  • “The soldiers… allowed the man to escape rather than risking the safety of the public or causing a stampede, they said.” In other words, their walking around with weapons is just for show – they do not intend to shoot and kill with them, even to protect themselves. The Muslims can just take over the country anytime and no one will stop them, evidently.

These soldiers risked the safety of the public by allowing this terrorist to escape, now free to escalate his level of terror in his next attack.

Are these troops not armed? An armed response would have been appropriate.

    • Some say their weapons are not loaded! In any case, they are hardly allowed to use them.

Then there is no point – the patrols are just theatre

        • With 10,000 soldiers deployed (if my memory is correct), the French army is already at its limit. If real civil unrest occurred, they would be unable to cope. That is why the French government is very fearful of widespread civil unrest and is hoping and praying for merely punctual attacks. Meanwhile, it licks the boots of all things Muslim…

I predicted the perp yesterday. I must be physic just like the Amazing Cretin!
