Blind woman repeatedly snubbed by Uber drivers because of her guide dog

A blind woman is spearheading a campaign against Uber drivers after being repeatedly snubbed because she has a guide dog.

Jade Sharp, 23, said some drivers for the hire firm cancel pick-ups when they learn that her five-year-old golden retriever Brodie will be coming along.

Four Uber drivers have been found guilty of breaching equality laws after Transport for London prosecutions based on her evidence, and four more cases are still to be heard.

The latest driver to be convicted was Mohamed Mohamoud, 51, of Tulse Hill, who was told to pay £1,546 in fines and costs at Hammersmith magistrates’ court.

Forget all this unimportant news! The important thing is that Great Leader is in New York. CTV News is excited that Great Leader had a boxing match at a gym, for the enjoyment of his loyal media. And then he held a meeting with young pot heads on the importance of getting off fossil fuels. He of course repeated that his is a feminist and the importance of whiny indians. He is so cool!! I think I’m going to swoon!

No “prayers at the local” or did he have his own personal imam in his entourage to keep him on schedule.

    • There are pictures at the Daily Mail, I won’t link to that twaddle.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

        Do muslims have eye teeth?
        Also known as canine teeth.

  • FactsWillOut

So, the answer is to force uber drivers to take on all callers, right?
It’s their car, their time, and their money, and they should be able to refuse service for whatever reason they like.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

      Good point.
Still, it is nice to see those particular kind of drivers get it handed back to them for a change.

    • moraywatson

Exactly ! And for instance, they should be able to refuse service to a totalitarian-supremacist.

    • Ed

Is it possible with uber to know in advance the name of your driver?

You know… level the playing field…

    • canminuteman

Agreed. I wouldn’t refuse because I like dogs, but what if you are allergic to dogs and don’t want to have to spend hours cleaning dog hair out of you car.

      • Alain

Then you should not drive a taxi in the situation you raise.

        • canminuteman

I believe in freedom of association. The state should not have the power to force anyone to do business with someone they don’t want to for any reason. All governments ignore this fundamental freedom despite the fact that it is in the Constitution.

          • vimy

So if the driver said no niggers no jews you would be OK with that.

          • canminuteman

Yep. If you were a nigger or a jew would you want to do business with someone who hated you? I’d also be good if they said no white men or christians or whatever. It is immoral to force someone into a contract that they don’t want to take part in. It is a form of slavery.

    • Alain

Normally I would tend to agree but must disagree here. In order to obtain and hold a taxi license/permit you must abide by certain requirements, just as in order to hold a valid drivers’ license you must obey traffic laws. In this case they should have their taxi license/permit revoked rather than just being fined.

  • simus1

muslim Uber drivers should be allowed to specify “no unclean nonhalal animals or alcohol carried” and customers should have the right to specify devout muslim drivers are unacceptable to them. It is called freedom.

    • FactsWillOut

Except Muslims should be declared enemy combatants, and treated accordingly.

    • Amen.

  • Clink9

I don’t use Uber but wouldn’t it make sense to list dog friendly vehicles for these cases?

    • I agree. If I drove for them I would advertise I carry beer dogs, bacon and booze just for myself at all times.

  • Dana Garcia

Self-driving cabs will at least put obnoxious diverse cabbies out of work. I look forward to that aspect of technological unemployment.

  • Bernie

Uber wants to carry passengers, they must agree to carry any and all that summon them. They have no right to choose whom they will offer services to for any reason save for Safety. Don`t like it, don`t drive Ubur or Taxi.

    • FactsWillOut

Fuck off, you sick totalitarian freak.

  • Deport all Muslims.

  • john s

I thought people used Uber to get away from smelly third world cabs…..

    • tom_billesley

Taking a dog into one of those is animal abuse.

“I sometimes park here at the butcher shop on my break.”

  • The Butterfly

Isn’t the whole point of Uber to avoid drivers named Mo?

    • simus1

      Theoretically yes.
But driving any cab is very compatible with maintaining a muslim lifestyle.
