Hillary Clinton will empower the Department of Justice and Environmental Protection Agency to fight against “environmental racism” through “stronger enforcement” of environmental regulations, she announced on Wednesday.
“Across America, the burdens of air pollution, water pollution, and toxic hazards are borne disproportionately by low-income communities and communities of color,” states a memo on the climate justice initiative released by Clinton’s campaign. More.
Reality check: Throwing the hot-button race issue into the problem of poor communities’ bad environments provides a number of advantages: It sets the poor communities against each other, helps conceal the complicity of local governments dominated by her party, and enables any perceived triumph against generalized “racism” to count toward a cleaner environment, irrespective of measurable fact.
But at least we know they care.
