‘After everything I went through, Jian is free’: Lucy DeCoutere on the trauma of the Jian Ghomeshi trial

‘I spent 12 months preparing to testify about one of the most traumatic incidents of my life, only to be mocked in open court. Now I know I never had a chance’

  • Drunk_by_Noon

    Hi Lucy!
He’s a tip that has served me well over the years.
“Never have sex with anyone crazier than yourself.”
    Sanity is sexy!
    Sanity matters!

    • What fun is that;)

      • Drunk_by_Noon

        Ya got me there!
Some of the most exciting and satisfying romantic relationships only ended when the Femmes go all homicidal.
I have noticed a common theme with some of my friends too.
Troy’s exGF came at him with a meat cleaver, cut his arm up pretty bad. She’s now in prison in AZ for agrivated murder (someone one else years later).
Tom’s exGF plunged a butcher knife into his shoulder and he had to clock her with his remaining good arm to get past her and out the front door. This was while they were on vacation in Europe.
I once woke up to getting strangled by my exWife, before she was an ex.

        Women are fickle creatures.

        • OK you got me beat!

          • El Martyachi

            … give it time.

        • Justin St.Denis

I’ve a very wealthy colleague who got really tired of her successful philandering husband giving her STDs. She knew him backwards, knew he’d arrive home drunk, knew he’d kick off his shoes in the front hall, knew he’d use the toilet off the front hall, knew he’d likely pass out on the toilet and only wake up the next morning.

He woke up the next morning. He tried to stand but couldn’t. He reached for the (landline) phone which was placed just inches beyond his reach. That is when he realized he was in deep shit, KrazyGlued to a wooden toilet seat and incapable of calling for help. Meanwhike, my colleague and her two children were moving into a condominium in downtown Toronto graciously provided by her very wealthy divorce lawyer.

All this happened back in the early 1990s. My colleague and her ex continue to have very rocky communications. Her ex is still an asshole with an “alcohol and pussy” problem.

          • That is just desserts.

          • Justin St.Denis

One of the few “crazy bitch” moves that I have ever felt was justified.

        • k1962

Wow. My brothers knew to drop crazy women at the first few harmless signs of it. They are in their 50’s and never married. I have my theories as to why they were so good at recognizing the first subtle signs of psycho-bitch behaviour…

          • Katyn

Never stick your you know what in crazy.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

If you find out your girlfriend is bulimic fucking run run run away.
I didn’t know any better since my anorexic mother seemed to get better and I thought I could change her.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

They are your brothers so I will speculate by not speculating.
Now I am going to go outside and yell at every passerby that I have the most humility of all.

          • k1962

            You’re close….

        • Katyn

I’ve had similar but not as extreme. Had to clock an ex on the side of her so I could get control of the car again and not crash. This was on a freeway. B1tches be crazy.

          • ntt1

I have found that sex with extraordinarily insane women is eyeopening and mind blowing however great care is needed to exit before she tries eating your head,

    • dance…dancetotheradio

I had sex with a black girl once.
Her boyfriend was in the army and she wouldn’t leave me alone.

  • I believe there is truth in this statement – all the witnesses appeared to be swept up in this feminist victimhood frenzy and I think sincerely believed that only their statement on the assault mattered. That allowed them to be careless with their testimony and to as in the 5000 texts exchanged between Lucy and the unnamed defendant to foolishly discuss their desire to see Ghomeshi ruined. I have no sympathy for him but for all that this trial was a farce that should never have seen the inside of a court.

“If anybody – the police, the Crown – had told me about what post-incident contact is or why it matters, that would have gone a long way. It might not have helped me remember everything, but it might have helped me go back to that state of mind. Now, I know that when it comes to a victim’s testimony, what happened after the assault is just as important as what happened before – at least as far as the court is concerned. Everything Henein asked me came back to one big question: why did I keep in touch with Jian? The answer is that it was my way of processing what happened to me, of neutralizing a volatile situation he created. But for her and the judge, it turns out, that wasn’t enough.”

    • H

“If anybody – the police, the Crown – had told me about what post-incident contact is or why it matters, that would have gone a long way”. She’s not the brightest light on the porch, is she?

      • There is lots to be critical of about the conduct of the witnesses, no question.

But shouldn’t the crown and her own lawyer have better prepared her for the trial? Don’t forget that prior to the trial, in the MSM and on social media it became a near mantra that only the alleged assaults were “on trial” nothing else mattered, it seemed a given that no other behavior by the witnesses would be raised. They were at least in part victimized for lack of a better term a 2nd time by this ludicrous sense of entitled victimhood propagated by numerous parties.

There is I believe plenty of “blame” to be shared here.

        • H

Fair enough – this really reflects poorly on her lawyers’ competence in this case.

        • northerncanuck

Well, if you believe her account of how they prepared her. I don’t believe a single thing she says.

    • Maxsteele

Agreed, the prosecutors in this were inept, the so called victims where very care free. Perhaps they believed that the court of law worked the same way as the court of public opinion did. In the end Ghomeshi is now going to be a very, very, wealthy man with all the upcoming lawsuits against the crown, CBC, the women and of course the inevitable book deal, movie..etc….

      • It may be the issue of post incident contact was raised with the witnesses by their lawyers and it may also be the witnesses chose to ignore it.

It’s possible that lawyer-client confidentiality may prohibit the lawyers defending themselves in public.

However Lucy’s statement on not being told about post-incident contact appears to indicate that may not be the case.

Can’t sue the Mother Corp — he’s union. Maybe, maybe a book deal. Besides, it’s not over yet — he’s got another criminal trial coming up in June. Meanwhile, Marie has another pair of Manolos in her foot locker. Only thing Jian has still got going for him is his looks as he sinks into a rather paunchy middle age.

  • Ron MacDonald

Ghomeshi’s career is ruined, I wouldn’t be surprised if civil action is initiated against his accusers.

    • He can, perhaps more likely he can sue for libel, but it would be perilous from a PR standpoint.

    • Solo712

I doubt he will do that. The best way for him to cash in on the won reprieve is getting into a private radio station. He is still a brand name, so offers will be likely pouring in if he gets cleared in the second case.

  • Tokenn

The overarching takeaway from this case is that people [okay, _women_] shouldn’t try to conflate bad sex they regret with sexual assault, and shouldn’t try to get revenge through the courts. If you can’t figure out that a crime has been committed against you for weeks or months or YEARS, and wait all that time to make your accusations…it’s going to go badly in court. Particularly if you lie and collude with other victims and witnesses in the spirit of seeking revenge.

The feminist outrage over this case is stupid…’verdict first, then the trial’ seems to be their attitude. Anybody who can’t understand why this case had huge problems for the prosecution and why Ghomeshi received a ‘not guilty’ should simply grow up and learn about how the law works.

    • Can’t help but agree, this trial was borne on the shoulders of a “feminist” lynch mob.

  • moraywatson

Your doctor gives you a flu shot. You don’t like needles, they hurt. But next year you go back to his office for another flu shot. Consensual flu shots are not “assault”.

    • The comments at the Guardian are not at all sympathetic to Lucy.

      • Solo712

She is almost a textbook example of a scheming, vindictive, pathetic, sexual masochist.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

      Off topic.
      Flu shots are stealth euthanasia.
My wife’s aunt used to work at a nursing home.
The flu shot people came through every fall and the deaths rose just before Christmas.

“All of the build-up, my 12 months of preparation, had come down to this:
    a letter I didn’t remember writing.”
Bullshit. It didn’t come down to one letter, it was the letter, the e-mails, the continued contact, etc. But by claiming it came down to one letter allows her to try and keep the victim status going. Also, as usual, I love the word play involved. “didn’t remember”, as opposed to forgot writing, By using the passive terminology, even though she doesn’t deny writing it, it doesn’t take ownership of the act and on a subconscious level makes it feel like this letter was something done to her, not something she did herself.

    • She seems to be in the habit of making “omissions”.

  • canminuteman

None of these women realized they had been reaped until he dumped them. Before that, they were good with it.

    • They all may have been gold-digging to one extent or another. That impression was certainly created by Heinen.

  • Ed

Time to get stoned and go bang Ricky

    • Ouch;)

    • dance…dancetotheradio

      That’s fucking awesome!!

      • felis gracilis

Yup, Ricky was certainly the right man for her.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

          Nice to meet you.

  • Spatchcocked

    Nelson Algren?…..I’m not sure….

Never eat at a joint called Mom’s
Never play cards with a man named Doc
And never ever go to bed with someone who has more troubles than you.

Please tell me that women voting is a strange nightmare and that I’m going to wake up any moment in a sane world.

  • Morticiaa

Geeeeze there must have been lots of consensual S and M
If some guy was aggressive or violent with me without consent
He,d be in hospital even today and I’m now over 70
Punch to the gut, knee hard up in the groin to dismember his member
Then while he was bent over, a strong punch to the jaw
And as I walked away if he wasn’t down a round house full strength kick to the
    Back of his head
I recommend martial arts for these feeble women instead of whiney protests

  • Yusuf_al_Kafir

Don’t worry, everybody, Catherine Porter of the Star is here to explain the women’s changing stories and dishonest behaviour……

QUOTE — ‘They changed small details — it was a slap, then a choke; yes, he slammed my head against the window, no it was just resting there.

But watching up close, how many of us didn’t wonder about the frailty of our own memories and the tricks we use to hide our shame even from ourselves?’ — END QUOTE

    ‘frailty’ ??
Is Catherine Porter saying these women are mentally weak?
    ‘…of our own memories’ ??
Is a mental weakness responsible for Catherine Porter’s own dishonesty?
(Who could ever forget the lies she wrote about her encounter with Ezra Levant?)

‘Ghomeshi trial proves one thing: we need a different system: Porter’……

Leave it to a liar to make excuses for liars.
