Bongino: Conservatism 301: Socialists Don’t Understand Socialism

Economically free countries outperform government managed economies in nearly every relevant category from GDP per capita to life expectancy. These correlations are strong and robust and any logical person would read a correlation such as this as evidence of the negative effects of government economic interference.

I hate to nitpick, but can someone “source” that Putin quote?
I’m not coming up with anything definitive, but that’s not how the dude usually talks.

It does seem a bit too perfect. Extra points for authenticity because it’s supposedly coming from a guy who lived under real socialism.

That’s the thing, as it has some “American thought” seeping into that quote that your typical patriotic CCCP ex-commie would never say.
I know some CCCP communists that had a pretty good time during the reign of the Soviet Union, and they DON’T blame international socialism for a damn thing.
That’s just not how a patriotic Russian that was plugged into the Soviet apparatus usually talks about the old days.

It was part of a satire article from 2009 written by Scooter report. Putin never said it.

        THANK YOU!

“Let’s start with failed economic regimes hallmarked by poverty, economic rationing, anemic growth, tyranny, and government violence. I’m speaking of regimes such as North Korea (socialist), the former USSR (socialist), today’s Venezuela (socialist), and Cuba (socialist). What do all of these failed regimes have in common? They attempted to implement a heavy degree of government control over their economies and, as the degree of government control increased, so did the poverty and deprivation of their citizenry. Using logic as our guide, this means that decreasing personal economic freedom and increasing government economic control are factors highly correlated with tragic economic outcomes.”

“…poverty and deprivation of their citizenry.” But not so much the elites running things on behalf of ‘the people’, and that’s what matters.
