Military ‘invisibility cloaks’ could breach Geneva conventions

So-called invisibility cloaks and other future advances in military camouflage techniques could violate the Geneva conventions, a leading military lawyer has warned.

Refinements of technologies that are already used on stealth bombers, could breach compliance with international laws regulating armed conflict if equipment is disguised or soldiers’ weapons are hidden, according to Bill Boothby, a former air commodore and deputy director of RAF legal services.

This was an episode of Star Trek.

    • A good one too;)

    • Norman_In_New_York

Wait! Israel has just invented a stealth diving suit for its version of navy SEALS.

  • Spatchcocked

And of course it follows that a sniper wearing bushes as camouflage is violating the Geneva Convention……it just makes sense.

  • FivePointSpurgeon

It’s not the cloak that gives invisibility that should worry. It’s those that also give +5 constitution and a +2 to missile weapons with a saving throw that are the worst.

    “Q” ships?

  • Hard Little Machine

As someone married to a lawyer for almost 40 years I can tell you lawyers make up stuff to drum up business.

    • No way!

    • Yeah, lawyer is the most mercantile of professions.

      • Xavier

Diplomatically put, Avi. The common term is ‘whorish’.

        • ntt1

Exactly! When whoring was defined and determined to be “the oldest profession “”people are apt to forget it was a bloody lawyer that made the determination that it was illegal . I think lawyering is empiracly , and in fact, the oldest profession with an entire belief system up for sale not just a few adapted body parts.

          • Athens in ancient times. The sophists were lawyers pleading causes before the people. This was the birth of democracy, and also of sophistical argumentation (lying and misleading) in politics and in civil and criminal legal proceedings.

have you ever met a US Army 2nd Leiut.? the most dangerous thing they ever put to war! (next to the pols that start them, that is)

  • ntt1

When swans or geese populations start to create problems then a programme of
Egg addling is started, tagging and relocation are also useful tools
It is past due to start considering some of these options to control an increasingly unruly legal profession.time is off the Essence in order to disrupt the progression of law intern into full fledged sociopathic the very least ,least an ear tag and numbering programme

I like your thinking , Earth is like a farm.

  • level of Consciousness

Ufo disclosure maybe on it’s way if stories like this are coming out.

  • Norman_In_New_York

The Geneva Conventions are by and for losers. When it comes to war, winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.

    • Exile1981

And islam has never followed it.

    • Kell

OOOAAAH! when it absolutely, positively has to be blown up by morning!

  • Dana Garcia

So the first world should share stealth technology with the enemy? That would be the liberal solution, just to make everybody equal.

  • vimy

    . .

I used my own cloaking device on my comment above

  • Bearspaw

” Hello… Geneva? Pentagon here. Just got your note. Well will get right on your request ASAP.

  • War is illegal, according to the leftists, except of course if it is made by leftists or Muslims.

  • Beautiful airplane – what is it?

  • Xavier

How’re you gonna catchum iffun they’un’s INVISIBLE, huh?
    Ever think about that?

I swear these ‘international law’ types jest ain’t got no sense ‘tall.

    • V10_Rob

It’s not invisibility that’s the problem, it’s disguising yourself as civilian that violates the laws of war.

A cloaking device that bends light to become partially or totally transparent is fine. Holographic projectors that make a tank look like an ambulance is not.

      • Kell

ya, but man, wouldn’t that be some fun…disguise all our stuff as goats and just lead them right on in! LMAO

        • V10_Rob

Little girls, no, but goats… Goats aren’t civilians. You’d really have to stretch the definition of ‘humanitarian infrastructure’ to cover them…

    • Minicapt

      “Air Force lawyer” …

  • Drunk_by_Noon

This is just one more instance of the left trying to constrain any American military advantage.

“To hell with dying for my country, my job is to make the other sonofabitch die for his!”- Gen. George Patton
…maybe we should sent them invitations to the battle, instead? What a bunch of assholes, not one has ever carried a weapon into war! The only chance your getting from me is to leave before I get there, Rangers don’t run, we LEAD!

  • Millie_Woods

Rule of thumb, if you’re serious about defending your country do not do not listen to the Brits
