The dangers of Trudeau’s ‘postnational’ Canada

I’m trying to understand Justin Trudeau’s idealistic thinking.

When the prime minister says Canada is the world’s “first postnational state,” I believe he’s saying this is a place where respect for minorities trumps any one group’s way of doing things.

‘There is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada,’ Trudeau claimed after the October election. ‘There are shared values – openness, respect, compassion, willingness to work hard, to be there for each other, to search for equality and justice.”

The New York Times writer who obtained this quote said Trudeau’s belief Canada has no core identity is his “most radical” political position. It seems especially so combined with criticism Trudeau is a lightweight on national security and sovereignty.

Not too many Canadians, however, seem disturbed by Trudeau talking about us as a “postnational state.”

Maybe they just write it off as political bafflegab.

Agreed, But the possibilty exists that she might also be drinking sperm fluid, cow urine, horse sweat, battery acid. Intelligent post there, BillyHW.

No, you don’t understand. She drinks menstrual fluid.

  • ismiselemeas

I think he means to say post nationalism which in other words is the end of nationalism and the birth of universal human rights and the prime directive. It also coincides with the development of the warp engine and the first contact with Vulcans.

    “Willingness to work hard?”
What if I’m lazy? Does that make me un-Canadian?

    • Justin’s head is filled with empty platitudes. They make him feel good, they make him feel smart.

He is an idiot, unfortunately a dangerous idiot of the sort that worships monsters such as Stalin and Mao. He has the the high ideals of the immature and the self awareness of a slug.

      • Waffle

His blather is very much like the pseudo-intellectual b.s. that we used to spout at our Saturday night pot parties way back when during our university days.
On the topic of Canadian identity — I went on a personal quest for my Canadian identity back in the 90s when I went to Texas. Nothing like discovering what makes you a Canadian than living in a very different culture. I quickly realized it was far better to be known as a Canadian than suspected of being a Yankee. (that was before the carpet-bagging real estate sharks gave us a bad rep).

Please Quebec, separate, and take your village idiot with you. He was quoted on the radio again today claiming how he is a Quebecer, the name Canada never crossed his lips.

      • Exile1981

Yes but the conservatives have no one to lead them.

      • k1962

I hope, but there are so many stupid Canadians that it’s possible he’ll be around for another term, especially since he’s importing so many future Liberal voters. We’re doomed.

A conservative needs to get in there and slam the damn door shut.

      I want separate from Canada.
      I am a Manitoban.
And I have felt this way for forty years.

      • canminuteman

In my travels around Canada over the last half century I have found that most Canadians have a very strong regional identity. The possible exception to that is people from Ontario. Although even then, they tend to have a regional identity as a northerner, southerner, someone from Toronto, or some other part of the province.

        • J. C.

Indeed. The country is too large and too sparsely populated to have any sense of national identity.
Time to deconfederate, IMO… Before Justin screws us all.

    • Canadian

He`s from Westmount. They consider themselves a british enclave in Qc.

You`re stuck with the stiff upper lip Westmounters.

It’s not idealistic thinking, it’s brainless thinking.

If Canada is postnational, why do we have a Prime Minister or a Parliament, and why do we have to pay for them with our taxes?

  • Justin St.Denis

The Parti Quebecois can really make hay with this quote from Shiny Pony and claim they were right all along.

    Post-national state, meet nationalist province.

    This should get interesting soon….

  • Jay Currie

On the one hand it’s OK to be a proud Canadian because the real Canada is back… On the other, post national.

    • Justin St.Denis

Hence Quebecois are no longer a “force to be reckoned with” in a post-national state, which will not play well to the francophone nationalist set. Too bad Justin can’t speak French to express real substance as well as Harper could. Shiny Pony just fucked himself in his own allegedly Quebecois arse.

Trudeau understands there are no borders only the Umma and the infidels.

He has recited the Shahada. The question is whether he has recited it in good faith and is now part of the Umma or whether he is still part of the other group.

    • H

Yes, it’s odd how much people have gone on about Obama being a Muslim, yet there’s little talk of Trudeau being one, when there is perhaps more evidence in Trudeau’s case. They both are – at the least – attracted to Islam, and dislike Christianity and Judaism. Gone are the days when Westerners who didn’t like Christianity studied Zen Buddhism … (sigh).

  • Shebel

It is easy to laugh at Justin— but –I think that he is actually stupid enough to be dangerous.
Just wait until he tries to change the way we vote.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

We need to work out a trade.
All the decent people in Canada can move south of the 49th, while all of our lefty weirdos can move up there after Trump is declared undisputed master of the galaxy.
    I see a massive win-win for everybody.
Then we can work on moving all the Jews in Israel to the Northern Baja peninsula and all the Mexican from Baja can chill out where Israel used to be.
The Mexican cartels and the Palestinians can get into a contest of one-upmanship as to who can cut off the most heads in a week.
    Like I said, everyone wins!

  • Shebel

Maybe . Justin is just upset with his Post Natal upbringing and wants to make Canada suffer.

  • Ron MacDonald

Justin Trudeau recent display of blackmailing Liberia with LGBT values is a pathetic display of colonialism reborn. The Liberian president was just being polite when she stated their laws didn’t specifically cover the specifics of homosexuality(just sodomy). Liberia wants canadian funding, but to agree to overzealous demands for concepts quite foreign to them, reveals a dangerous sophistication.
Justin Trudeau seems to need a lot of ‘likes’ (facebook terminology), which is very dangerous for a country to be leaded by such a narcissistic trait. Obama is the same way, which again is very dangerous because the leadership probably is unaware when hostile nations would take advantage of such weaknesses.
