Super Saturday

Breitbart, Guardian, New York Times

Cruz has won Kansas and Maine and Trump took Kentucky & Louisiana.

The biggest story if you can call it that is the rejection of Marco Rubio, the establishment’s Plan B.

In Kansas, Kentucky, Maine and Louisiana Rubio has pulled 17, 17, 8 and 11 per cent of the vote respectively, a poor showing even by his standards.

Bernie Sanders wins Kansas & Nebraska caucuses.

I still have teservations about both Trump and Cruz…. but I have no doubt that a rubio presidency would be a disaster.

    • I don’t know that Trump is the right hand grenade, but a hand grenade was needed to blow up the GOP.

It seems like some of Rubio’s support may have moved to Cruz tonight. At any rate he is toast after tonight’s showing I suspect, not that he’ll quit.

Do Inunderstand it correctly that if neither trumpnor cruz get 50% of the delegates then the gop can appoint anyone?

        • Clausewitz

That’s why Mittens has crawled out from under his rock and the GOPe want him as their anointed one. Republican Party, it was nice knowing you, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your trek into political oblivion.

Romney lost to McCain and Obama.
            Can’t he just be quiet?

        • This Wapo article purports to explain the Brokered Convention process

This is what happens if Republicans face a brokered convention

No president is going to save the US now. The US is sliding towards dissolution and civil war with some chunks of it being becoming part of Mexico.

      • Exile1981

Yes, but the next president or two will set the tone for how violent and destructive that collapse and war is.

  • Brett_McS

I believe that Kansas was an upset. Are people waking up about Trump?

  • huron

trump must destroy te gop e

    Trump/Cruz for the win.

The GOPe lost tonight. Possibly forever.

Trump v. Hilly – as well as the best reality TV ever – will kill the whole corrupt gang of them. Cruz keeps his head down and takes on the CEO role Trump has no interest in. Hilly goes to jail.

Thank God JT is down in Washington now because, I fear, he’s unlikely to get another invitation having called Trump and his supporters not terribly bright.

    • Brett_McS

Sorry, but Cruz is not Chris Christie.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

        OK, that was funny!

    • Which is such a stupid Canadian thing to do.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

    Rubio is screwed!
    Se ya Marco

    • Brett_McS

No, no, it’s all going according to plan.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

If Rubio’s plan was to lose while being publicly humiliated, then he is on track!

        • Brett_McS

          He can still win!!!!

          • Jay Currie

One is reminded of the immortal words of Monty Python’s Black Knight upon the severance of his arm, “Just a flesh wound.”

Bye Marco… We hardly knew you.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Even rule No. 40 can’t save him

        • David Murrell

What did Rubio in was his crazy speeches last week, and the disastrous Mitt Romney speech.

    • Yea Marco should be gone after this near rout.

  • SDMatt

Trump has been sniffling into the microphone for the past week – wonder if the rigours of the campaign trail are getting to him.

  • Shebel

I dunno. Maybe these girls are correct.

Have not really been watching the numbers, just seeing all this coverage that Trump is walking away with it. Maybe I’m missing something, but with the numbers n the chart above, it looks entirely possible for Cruz to overtake him.
