How Donald Trump Can Beat Hillary Clinton

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s Super Tuesdays put them on a collision course this fall. Betting markets make Clinton the strong favorite, given Trump’s high unfavorables, his incendiary comments about minorities, and the fact that members of his own party seem eager to disavow him. But Trump’s strengths and grand strategy make him considerably more dangerous in a general election than people seem to think.

      • Trump has shown complete mastery of the media. His “Mexico fence” and “stop Muslim immigration” positions have brought him millions of closet dems.

The election will all come down to “another” Clinton or a “Make America Great Again” Trump.

And Hillary’s “FBI email problem” has not gone away. Even if Lynch gives her a pass, expect Trump to clobber her with it.

        Trump by a landslide.

        • luna

Trump only has support from about 1/3 of republicans. But your right the liberal New Yorker may win over some dems. Bottom line is he has nothing to lose from running, if he wins he’s POTUS, if he loses his pal (another liberal New Yorker) Hillary is POTUS, either way he wins.

          • When faced with a choice between Hillary or Bernie against Trump, real republicans will overwhelmingly vote for Trump.

And lots of swing voters and dems will to. Immigration and Islam issues are top on lots of minds.

          • luna

Perhaps, but according to the polls, “real republicans” and “lots of swung voters and dems” will lose the election.

      • G

So how many properties are YOU currently renting out?

        • luna

I wasn’t born a multimillionaire. But that’s just basic economics, collecting rent requires zero skill, as opposed to the renter who must produce something in the economy.

    • Maurice Miner

Capt, despite considering Trump’s chequered past, and his rather abrupt manner, I do applaud his kicking the GOP “religion” in the ‘nads.

At the very least, he has crystallised the conservative voting populace to go beyond the force-fed candidates of the recent past.

IMO, it is a very good thing, and this electoral “anger” should be scaring the shit out of the Turnbulls and other psuedo-conservatives. A very good thing indeed.

      • Minicapt

True, but I am not amused by having staged performances touted as demonstrations of competence. What happens when “President Trump” discovers that “You’re fired!” doesn’t work when chatting with Congress?

Maine Governor Paul LePage Endorsed Trump
    Canadian-Born Cruz Not Eligible
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUzamofCx-c

    • luna

Cruz is to my knowledge perfectly eligible, add his citizenship was granted from birth. This is an ugly smear by Trump.

That said I don’t like Cruz, and I’m not alone.

According to the polls neither Trump nor Cruz could beat Hillary in a general election.

      • Clausewitz

The Dief knew what to make of polls. He said back in the 50’s, “That the only one who knew what to do with polls/poles was a dog”. The polls said he was going to lose to Louis St. Laurent by a wide margin but in the end Dief went on to form the largest majority Tory government up to that time.

Natural Born Citizen Clause of Our U.S. Constitution Requires that
Both of the Child’s Parents Be U.S. Citizens At the Time of Birth

…Cruz , Rubio , Nikki Haley , Jindal , Obama are all ineligible

        http://puzo1.blogspot.ca/2009/09/natural-born-citizen-clause-requires.html

        • luna

Natural born citizen clause uses an undefined term, “natural born citizen” it’s normally taken to mean citizenship granted as birth right, but technically the exact meaning is an unsettled legal matter.

That said there is no requirement that both parents are U.S. citizens. Citizenship can be granted to the child of a U.S. citizen parent born abroad.

..what if Cruz were born in Kenya?

‘been reading about this for 7 years.. yes there is disagreement
it’s about allegiances ..to eliminate foreign influence

“Obama’s father was not a citizen of the USA, nor was he an immigrant to
the USA, nor was he even a permanent resident of the USA. Obama when
born in 1961 was a British Subject via his British Subject father, per
the British Nationality Act of 1948 which governed the status of
children born to British Subjects. Obama thus was born with dual
citizenship and dual allegiances and a foreign claim on his allegiance.
Obama is not a natural born citizen of the USA and he is not eligible to
be the President under Article II of our U.S. Constitution.”

            http://puzo1.blogspot.ca/2015/05/senator-cruz-senator-rubio-and-governor.html

          • luna

That’s someone’s opinion that “natural born citizen” cannot include dual citizens. Honestly it seems like a weak argument to me.

As far as allegiances, if a dual citizen renounces their U.S. Citizenship that’s a different matter, we aren’t talking about renouncing citizenship.

          • mauser 98

a candidate born in China , Kenya , Mongolia etc. to one US citizen parent is OK?
…both Obama and Cruz held foreign citizenships

          • luna

Based on my understanding, yes the child of a U.S. parent born abroad may qualify for citizenship from birth. Based on the commonly accepted reading of the constitution, being a citizen from birth should qualify as “natural born citizen”.

I guess the word “natural” confuses things a bit. But what would an “unnatural born citizen” mean? Perhaps the bigger legal question which may end up in supreme court sometime after 2050 is what about babies who were born outside the U.S. via surrogacy or other unnatural methods.

          • mauser 98

naturalized citizen perhaps would mean “unnatural born citizen”

          • luna

As for Cruz it would hardly matter if he were born on Mars. If his U.S. citizen parent met the requirements to transfer citizenship, he could be recognized by the U.S. as a citizen from birth.

          • luna

For what it’s worth I was also confused about this. A lot of misinformation on the subject was put out by people opposing Obama.

          • mauser 98

to be POTUS one must be “natural born”
            a special requirement.
Citizen at Birth (CAB) does NOT identically equal Natural Born Citizen (NBC) at Birth.
            http://puzo1.blogspot.ca/2009/07/citizen-at-birth-cab-does-not-equal.html

          • luna

The meaning of the term “Natural born citizen”, which appears in the constitution has not yet been clarified by a court. However, it is commonly accepted to be equivalent to citizen at birth. If it were to be decided in court I fully expect the court would consider anyone who gained citizenship at birth via blood or soil to qualify.

Any chance Trump Inc could end up with lucrative non-competitive government contracts under a Trump presidency?

This new BCF Trump Drinking Game is fun but outside of here it’s getting like the Dutch Tulip Mania.

Educate us as to why we should all be hysterical about him possibly becoming the nominee. How exactly will the little people suffer in their day to day lives.

      • Millie_Woods

He wants to control immigration and profile the most prolific terror enablers on the planet and restore some balance of trade. This will upset George Soros, Mark Zuckerberg and the little people in Congress. You wouldn’t want that would you?

        • Clink9

I’m always walking on eggshells around George and Mark. Whatever it takes to keep them happy!

  • Norman_In_New_York

Trump will get the nomination because the Republican establishment is as incompetent as it has been for years. Once there, he is likely to defeat Hillary because her negatives are higher than his.
