‘Atmosphere of fear’ at BBC allowed Jimmy Savile to commit sex crimes, report finds

More than 100 BBC staff – including some of the corporation’s biggest names – were aware of rumours about Jimmy Savile’s sexual misdemeanours, yet none of them reported the claims, an independent report has found.

Dame Janet Smith, a retired judge who has spent nearly three years examining Savile’s activities at the BBC, concluded that the presenter sexually assaulted 72 victims while working for the corporation, including boys and girls as young as eight.

Shocking report reveals how ‘King Jimmy’ was STILL abusing women aged 79 after BBC asked him back to host Top of the Pops in 2006

The only man I ever found who actually looked creepier than Uncle Bobby.

  • Shebel

I will never understand this atmosphere of Fear.
The worst that can happen is you lose your job. Big deal.

  • I’ve said this before: thousands of people knew about Savile. Including a friend of my father from Leeds (Savile’s home town) who apparently would never suffer the man’s name to be spoken in his presence. My father never found out why.

And how anyone could look at him and not think “pedophile” is beyond me. Apparently he was friends with Prince Charles, if you needed further proof of that man’s cluelessness. http://www.steynonline.com/5298/the-court-predator

So WHY did they ? I don’t get it. Why would they not just turn the fucker in—-
Was it just to protect themselves from Public Humiliation— that is OK
Surely they were not afraid of him.

      • I suppose they couldn’t prove anything. But that’s not a good enough explanation, I agree. I would think that if a lot of people knew that someone was molesting children, one of them might take matters into his or her own hands.

        • Shebel

Are you serious ? Nobody said anything because somebody might get mad and cripple the prick. That would be justice. No?

John Peel would never do a shavill.

          • I was saying that I’m a little shocked that nobody did anything to him.

By the way, please don’t call people “niggers”.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

            I remember that talk.

            On to another subject…
So Mamba, have you picked out a liquor store yet, and are you better with a Remmington 12-gauge pump action or a Glock 20?
I could go either way, but I figured I’d let you could have the first pick.

You just have to promise to deliver this line.

          • Shebel

Ok . I keep forgetting that time has moved on and we have progressed.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Oh, I fell afoul of that one.
            It’s hard being a culturalist.

Everyday I wonder why my mother has never visited my house since I married my wife nearly seventeen years ago.

          • Kell

crippled would have been the least of any and all of his concerned!

        • El Martyachi

It’s almost as though Brits are largely a complacent and submissive people.

      • Kell

“Turn him in”? NO! bury him up to his neck in the woods and drive a lawn mower over him….are these people effing kidding me?

    • Kell

Don’t give a shit if he’s the best friend of God Himself, touch my child you’ve breathed your last! Wood-chippers and catfish!

  • HalcyonDaze

Given weirdly similar situations it’s not hard to see that the BBC and CBC seem to be the same shit only in a different bowl.

    • David Murrell

Yes, for sure. I caught the repeat of the CBC National this morning (Friday morning), and it was hilarious watching the mighty Peter Mansbridge covering the Saville story. The Master intoned that “there was a culture of protection” at the BBC, where “talent mattered more than ethics”. That the exact same thing happened at the CBC with Ghomeshi never dawned on Master Mansbridge.

  • Kell

WTF! Are there no men left in the UK? WHY is this POS still breathing? Touch my child or my woman, your all done! Period! There will be no police, courts, reporters, or anything else…touch either I WILL touch you!
Holy shit, are your men so pussified you’d allow these POS’s to hurt your kids??? F that!

    • He died a while ago.

      • Kell

Someone who loves their kids ought to have been the cause is all I’m saying! Their kids are still being messed with, by muz-tards, are they doing anything about them? With ALL due respect…FUCK that!

  • QiPo

Of course he managed a free pass on his sordid past. Power and privilege. Actually I see him as a fun house mirror image of the British government, oh heck, all governments and how they treat their people.
