Did the Republican Fat Lady Already Sing in South Carolina?

They say it’s not over until the fat lady sings. Well, the Republican fat lady was definitely vocalizing in South Carolina this Saturday and I think I can hear her warming up Götterdämmerung right now – or is it “Hail to the Chief”?

Truth is, there’s only the slightest hope Donald Trump didn’t essentially wrap up the nomination in this primary.

  • barryjr

Cruz is a lying douchebag, he should go run as a Democrat they have an affinity for those types. Rubio and Megyn Kelly should disappear into the sunset so she can have their love child which she so obviously shows her desire to do every time she mentions his name. Carson is a good man but he’s done and who knows or cares what Kasich is going to do. Trump is a man of the people while his two main competitors are beltway insiders no matter how much they claim to be otherwise.

    • luna

Good for Trump, bad for the people.

      • Bad for which people? Muslims? Freedom loving Americans?

        • luna

Muslims wish only to see the downfall of the west, so maybe not bad for them. For everyone else, bad.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Cruz wasn’t in the Gang of Eight.

      • Some day I’ll have to look up the “Gang of Eight” to find out what all the hoopla was about. Sounds twice as bad as Mao Zedong’s “Gang of Four” in Communist China (if you do the math 2×4=8). 😉

        • dance…dancetotheradio

The Gang of Eight was the group of senators that proposed the amnesty bill.
          Rubio was one of them.
Thirty years ago Chucky Schumer proposed the same thing and promised to seal the border.
          But, he didn’t.
And it is galling that he would try again.
More galling that Rubio, a TEA Party Republican would align himself with them.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

Doing the math, I’m not sure what decibel of pi that is.

          • I think Justin got that from Islam — they invented “algebra” which is apparently a measurement for sound waves.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

In electronics we are mainly concerned about signal strength.
A decibel is a relative measure as opposed to dbm which is pegged to one milliwatt.
That our prime minister wouldn’t know the difference between a decibel and a decimal is deeply disturbing.
I’d like to have that conversation with the useful idiot.
By the way, once when I was a banquet manager I was offered the chance to shake Jean Chretien’s hand as a favour for giving his chief of staff a meeting room on short notice.
            I declined.

          • I have an electronic multi-meter that measures decibels — ever since our Great Leader imparted his wisdom to the masses I’ve been trying like heck to get it to work like a calculator. No luck so far.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Where I work the test procedures routinely reference avometers.
            Amp volts ohms.
It took us a while to figure it out.
We’re so spoiled with our modern test equipment and vernacular.

          • My son is a tech for a large phone company. When I showed him my old multi-meter he was impressed — the new stuff is all digital easy read-out, no calculations necessary.

Back to Great Leader — maybe I got it backwards. I’m going to try plugging my calculator into my RCA stereo “out” jack and see what happens. Justin would never lie to us or make a mistake.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            I’m a tech, too.
Very sensitive to fluctuations in the lights.
            What the fuck just happened?
            Was that one of us?
            Sometimes it is.

          • The calculator in the RCA jack didn’t work so I tried it in the AC outlet — I better be careful, might cause a blackout! 😉

I’m just a good old fashioned “jack of all trades” (but “master of none”).

          • dance…dancetotheradio

I was a stupid kid who stuck a nail file into the electrical outlet in my bedroom.
            I shouldn’t be here.
There are many I shouldn’t be here moments in my life.
I could have died so many times.
            I’m not winning.
I’m living on the grace of my God.
There’s no other way to explain it.

          • I sometimes tremble when I think of certain past situations. Had to be God’s grace or a guardian angel.

    • john700

I am still not convinced that Trump is not a Democrat/Clinton plant. There is something suspicious about his run. His ideas about the wall and the Muslims are great, but he doesn’t seem to be able to articulate anything else. He is not even able to defend those 2 ideas. Of course you don’t have to deport 11 millions. Just build the wall, enforce E-Verify, deport the criminals and the visa overstays, cut all Federal funding to municipalities and states that are not following Federal immigration laws and most of the illegals will leave. Including those who have children born in the US (what are they going to do, leave them in US? that’s child abandonment).

I hope I am wrong and he is for real.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

        Trump is not a plant.
He speaks in soundbites to capture the media.
There’s a lot more going on there than you hear.

    • You’re going to feel very embarrassed if Cruz wins.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

If Cruz wins I will be happy, too.

  • Polls indicate 75% of the SC population want a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

    Any wonder about Trump’s victory?

  • Exile1981

Trump has flip flopped more than once. I think he is the best choice but its a case of the lesser evil…. unless trump actual keeps his election promises.

    • luna

      What promises?

Make Mexico pay for a fence?
      Ban Muslims?
Ensure no one dies for lack of access to medical care?
Bomb the shit out of ISIS?
Bring back millions of manufacturing jobs from China?
      Make America great again?
Hope and change? (Oh wait, wrong candidate)

      • Exile1981

Exactly, Trump is my preferred choice but I’ve been bitten often enough that I have a suspicion that he will not keep those promises.

    • Much remains to be seen, Trump is by no means a lock, but certainly the favourite.

Many like Cruz but I am suspicious of any “full time” politician.

  • luna
    • Good one;)

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Comedians should comment on elections after not before.

  • I trust Rubio is smart enough not to pick a fight with Donald. Although Donald might pick a fight with him, in such case he may be screwed. As for Cruz, I’m not only irritated with his accent now, but with his “preachy” way of campaigning — he sounds like he’s behind the pulpit.

However this plays out the GOP is gonna be a heck of lot more interesting to watch than the Dems who are only interested in ideology instead of policy: “I’m more Progressive than you are — nah nah, you’re it!” Of course the GOP went through that childish phase with “I’m more conservative than you are!”, but hopefully that’s behind them now and they stick to policy since nobody gives a s**t who’s more “conservative”.

  • Tom Forsythe

It has been all over for a while. Republicans need to unite behind their candidate.

I understand and agree with many of the criticisms of Trump, but they don’t matter.

If the village is being attacked by a dragon, no other policy matters, if the candidate has no dragon-slaying policy. The dragon is immigration, and Trump is the only one willing to take it on.

  • Waffle

    Fat lady singing:

    • I miss groups with really good vocals — harmonies, a cappellas etc. Now everything’s stage production — lights and effects, circus routines or how well you can shake your ass. You can have a voice like a cow’s fart but high-tech mics and sound equipment can filter it to make anyone sound like Nana Mouskouri (a true fat lady, minus the pounds).

      • Waffle

Everything’s fake these days. That’s why I rarely go to movies — their all fx. Hard to find a film with a good plot. Special effects people trump writers.

  • dukestreet

Trump has his problems but, 2 things I like & hope he will do. The immigration stuff including the wall and the fact that he’s not tied to lobby groups. If he will do what he says remains to be seen,All the other ones owe a pile of cash to somebody and will be paying the piper at the expense of Americans, regardless of anything else.

  • mauser 98
    • Have to call b.s. on this again. Only the first paragraph is from the Constitution. The rest was made up by Garth Bubba while whittlin’ a corn-cob pipe on the back porch in the hills of Tennessee.

Every human on the face of the earth was naturally born somewhere — that place is the country where you where born naturally. It’s where YOU were born, not your parents. As far as Presidential eligibility, Bubba contradicts his own sources — Rubio’s parents are in fact U.S. citizens. Or does he think they’ve been here on an extended work visa for the past 60 years?

      • mauser 98

what if Mrs Cruz gave birth to Ted in Kenya?

      • mauser 98

Rubio’s parents became US citizens after Marco was born
he is an anchor baby and ineligible to be POTUS

Citizen at Birth (CAB) does NOT identically equal Natural Born Citizen (NBC) at Birth.

        • Cruz is a different story.

Rubio’s eligible according to the current Constitution. If somebody wants to amend the Constitution then fine. In other words you’d have to be from a third generation immigrant family to qualify for POTUS in that case.

      • mauser 98

Ted Cruz’s father became US citizen after Ted was born
        Ted held dual citizenship

        • Hmm, interesting. This is going to be the most fun American election in my lifetime.

          • mauser 98

neat tractor .. the good old ones!

          • Yeah, too bad I don’t have it anymore. Just reminiscing.

        • Minicapt

And none of DonJohn grandparents were American from birth.

          • mauser 98

they were US citizens at time of his birth

          • As a Canadian it’s getting too complicated for me at this point. To run for PM all you have to do is be a citizen of the “Global Community”. Although I hear you can have a tough time finding the Global passport office.

          • mauser 98

the bar has been lowered greatly

          • Is that a beaver hat? Looks like misogyny to me — arrest that man!

          • Minicapt

Nope … but enjoy the fantasy>

          • mauser 98

            any proof?

    • Minicapt

First of all, DonJohn mother was Scottish.
