Christie Blatchford: The Ghomeshi sex-assault case started falling apart right from the start

In the magnificent words of the Tragically Hip, in their 1989 Boots or Hearts song, when it starts to fall apart, man, it really falls apart.

At the just-concluded sexual assault trial of the fallen CBC star Jian Ghomeshi, prosecutors Mike Callaghan and Corie Langdon didn’t have long to wait.

So, what do you all think the real reason he was charged was?
Sure he’s a freak that liked kinky sex, but did the girls suddenly decide that his practices were unacceptable AFTER his promises of career advancement did not materialize?
I’m beginning to think in that direction about this case.

    • Well it looks like he was charged in a feeding frenzy of self-righteous feminist fantasy.

BTW, I love the anime pics you are using for this story. After the revelations of some of the witnesses, they are absolutely perfect, and I’m not even an anime fan.
It just works for this story.

        • Sailor Moon Rocks!

          • Drunk_by_Noon

I’ll have to check it out.
It won’t make me ‘weird’, will it?

          • Like a Brony but more Gay.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Like synchronized ice-dancing in a furry costume gay?
            That kind of gay?

          • Worser!

          The accompanying pics are great.

    • Lucy DeCourture has a career (of sorts).

Dare I say it? People who wallow in the mud can’t complain about being dirty. If a girl puts herself out there, it will be hard for anyone to believe she was ever a victim.

What is sown? Seeds of a culture that makes hedonism and identity politics virtues.

I’m thinking this was all about revenge because what wver he promised her wasn’t delivered.

There have been rumours before of CBC staff trading sex for career advancement.

        • I think he’s guilty.

I guess it doesn’t matter seeing as the women are deemed not credible.

          • andycanuck

It reminds me of something from a Barney Miller episode when Capt Miller explains to someone who thought he had a good reason to fistfight someone that “there’s no such thing as Justifiable Assault.”

          • Gray area…

          • Exile1981

I don’t doubt that he is guilty of roughing up women. The real question was it part of a transaction? If he offered favors in exchange for allowing him to beat them up; then there was consent …. but that means he is a john and it also means he’s guilty of miss use of power as well ascroughing them up.

That also means that the head of the cbc lied to parliament.

          • It means that they are stupid and this bodes poorly for real victims.

          • Exile1981

Yes. Its like the article yesterday about the met cops no longer taking accusations of sexual assault as true and automaticly investigating them.

If they did conspire and lie to get him arrested for something they consented to it will be used to not believe real victims and I suspect it will be used to help hide the results of islamic rape gangs in Canada.

It’s sad but given the number of college rapes where it turned out it was regret days or weeks later rather than actual rape… I’m not surprised its coming that the onus of proof will shift back to the acuser.

          • The onus of proof should be on both.

Anyone who makes a false accusation should do serious time.

Anyone who actually committed these offenses should be chained to a rock on Baffin Island.

I dont think anything was promised. Lucy was pissed because he just wasn’t into her (pun intended).

      • Waffle

From the sounds of it, nobody had much fun. Lucy and friends could have had a much better time at that retreat of hedonism — Club Med.

The psychopathies of all the players in this little drama could keep a small army of shrinks occupied for years. But that won’t happen here — the Ontario gov. has prioritized sex change procedures.

    • canminuteman

A lot of women will do anything if the price is right, but the check bounced and they were really pissed. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

I’d never trade my status for casting couch pussy.
      Just wouldn’t.
Not that I ever had the chance.
I was too broke in my twenties.
Then again, I’m not a forty nine year old confirmed bachelor like Ghomeshi, either.

  • Tom Forsythe

Only fake rape cases get national coverage. Actual rapes, especially those by Muslim gangs, get covered up.

    • disqusW6sf

      I was thinking the same.

  • Millie_Woods

Looks like the only thing he’s guilty of is banging bimbos. I won’t call them what they really are.

  • SDMatt

Much as I loathe Ghomeshi, I suppose this being Canada he can’t sue either his accusers and/or the Crown.

The man has had his life ruined – deservedly so if he did what they claim – but they haven’t proved it.

A man can have his life destroyed by this sort of clown show?

  • Blind Druid

He’s as guilty as hell. But he kept every little note and scrap of paper written by these chicks, going way back, plus every e-mail, and no doubt recorded his phone conversations. If you’re into rough sex with bimbos who are looking for a career leg up, that makes them whores, and keeping records makes you a pretty smart little Muzzie sadist. The feminists are pissed right off, and I am actually laughing about this, even though I think he’s a piece of shit.
