The Liberal Fantasy of Cultural Appropriation

Some academic leftists believe every culture has the exclusive right to its products. Among the many silly ideas of young leftists who want to appear good without the hassle of doing good, “cultural appropriation” stands alone.

Since it’s spreading among American undergrads at a bubonic pace, it deserves a closer look.

The article makes clear the absurdity, but I say let’s run with it.

    • Justin St.Denis

In and of itself, “running” was appropriated from the notoriously cowardly French, and we all just shouldn’t ever, ever, ever do that!

    • Eating sushi is cultural appropriation?

      Progressives are appropriating being idiots.

  • Brett_McS

And Beyonce going Bollywood style is apparently not “cultural appropriation”.

  • Xavier

Then we can have the word ‘gay’ back, right?

    • Brett_McS

Yes: You’re obviously very gay. I’m sure you’re a lot of fun to be around. Nothing like those self-absorbed, morose homosexual people.

  • tom_billesley

Gender appropriation is, however, de rigueur.

    “Bubonic pace”?????

    • Everyone Else

pronounced “patchay” … latin word for “peace”
refers to the peace brought by bubonic depopulation
in this iteration refers to the peaceful emptiness of the pc mind

They stole my insulin….and penicillin…when Leontyne Price sang I would seethe! …..when Papa Doc tricked himself out in a Tuxedo I loudly remarked on his cheekiness…Sadaam Hussein wearing a trilby was at least comical….

Ok in that case all the black musicians can give up their careers as recording devices and electricity are both products of western white culture.

  • Dana Garcia

I’m sure ethnic restaurants want white people to quit eating at their establishments, right. Okay, fine, whatever.

Anyway, aren’t immigrants appropriating western culture when they bother to learn English and otherwise assimilate?
