A British mother who took her toddler son to Syria has been jailed for six years for joining the so-called Islamic State.
Tareena Shakil, 26, is the first woman from the UK to return from the self-declared caliphate to be convicted of the offence.
Sentencing her at Birmingham Crown Court, Mr Justice Inman said she showed no remorse and knew that her son would ultimately be used as an IS fighter.

Handing down the sentence, the judge criticised Shakil for telling a string of lies in an attempt to avoid prosecution for taking her son to join jihadists.
Jailing her for four year for ISIS membership and two years for encouraging acts of terror, Judge Melbourne Inman told the former college student: ‘You told lie after lie to the police and in court between February and November 2015, including that you were kidnapped, were not responsible for any tweets and any incriminating photographs were staged against your will.
