The Canadian Temper: A Warning to America

Canadians have long thought of themselves as morally superior to the supposedly vulgar and abrasive Americans. According to the self-justifying Canadian mythos, we embody a more enlightened and humane outlook on the world. In addition to oil, maple syrup, and lumber, our most valuable export — our gift, we imagine, to our southern neighbors — is our vision of a sustainable and irenic future. Let us examine the most current incarnation of that vision.

Canada is essentially a socialist country, closer to the increasingly decrepit European welfare and statist paradigm than to the (now faltering) classic American model of individual self-reliance.

Just because I live in a socialist country doesn’t mean I am a socialist.
I argue with socialists all the time.
They always shut up when I use the line that in a socialist country you wait for the bread and in a capitalist country the bread waits for you.

What I did not know was the Scotiabank Welcome Syrians. $100 gift. $2000 limit unsecured credit card, free safety deposit box and $50 unsecured overdraft. AS I am about to meet with Scotia next week to move funds from RBC, I wonder, because this smacks of Liberal pandering. Did CIBC make such a stupid move? Scotiabank, 20,000 so called migrants with $2000 unsecured credit card? Why do you make Canadians work so hard to get credit and then give this FREEBIE to 20,000 more so called refugees who we all know are not refugees who knows who they are. And maybe more? Than 20,000, up to 60,000. Why? You make it hard for Canadians to get a loan or credit but these people WHOM YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT, get a free pass? Did Justin Trudeau tell you to? I am quite angered by this and would like to know if CIBC fell prey to this. I can easily move to CIBC. Moving from RBC since they charge seniors whereas the others don,t.

Go to a credit union then you can actually have a say in how they are run and stop this stupid crap.

The irony is that Canada (with the exception of New France which is now Quebec) and the U.S. were founded primarily by the same people — the republican-minded colonials and those who wanted to remain under British rule, the Loyalists.

Clearly the author has ever experienced a swimming pool full of drunk Ontarians on a sun holiday down south. More American (fatter, louder and crasser) than the Americans themselves.

It’s a little much for America to worry about becoming Canada south. It is the us who is in greater danger from uncontrolled immigration from south America. It is America who has only recently awoken to the fact that the last 20 years or more have seen presidents all too willing to allow or even encourage vast numbers of illegals. I would say we aRe in much the same class already.

Ottawa-Gatineau was expected to get 400-600 refugees now Ottawa alone has 700 as of last week and Gatineau 45 now to make things stranger Gatineau is expecting 500 and Ottawa 2000.
