“I am frightened for the future of my children”

Chemistry professor confronts Merkel at public event, university and German government respond by pressing legal charges against him.

  • luna

Good. I hope the school does kick him out. Then he can quit procrastinating and get his family out of Germany. I would recommend he seek political asylum in the U.S. we love persecuted German physicists.

    • Maurice Miner

      Rim shot!

    • That’s why the U.S. prospers — they open their doors to real refugees.

  • UCSPanther

“How dare that man speak his mind! Guards! Remove this malcontent at once!”

    • David Murrell

Indeed. Speaking one’s mind at a university is illegal. Doing so would lead to a discussion of ideas, an exchange of thought. Can’t have that, can we? After all, the professor works at a unversiity.

    • Liberal Progressive

What is he some sort of lunatic? His children?

They are the children of the state! He has no say on what they future should be.

  • Very respectful protest by an academic with a legitimate issue, who left quietly when he was asked to leave. And they’re laying charges anyway? Compare that to the protest by a Senate Page in the middle of the Speech From The Throne in Canada. No issue except “Stop Harper!” — rhetoric with no particular meaning. When she was fired (but not charged) she was treated like a martyr — and she ended up getting a cushy job with one of the Opposition Parties (who probably put her up to it in the first place — it was Partisan, nothing to do with something of general public concern).

This looks like Merkel’s inner STASI / Nazi at work again.

    • John

Merkel’s father was pretty cosy with the East German state. Back in the 70s Merkel’s family had two automobiles and they were allowed to travel to The West.

You’d never obtain such privileges were you not working for state security.

      • She was born in West Germany but her family moved to the Communist East after which, “at the Academy of Sciences, she became a member of the FDJ district board and secretary for “Agitprop” (Agitation and Propaganda).” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Merkel

now the idiot prof is scared… too late sucker
idiots like him created this mess 30+ years ago

    • Your graphic or vid doesn’t work. Blank.

      • mauser 98
        • This one’s blank too. Anyway I think I got — followed a link to Facebook and I assume it’s the vid that looks like anarchists/Muslims rioting in Paris (says “this morning” in French — dang I wish they’d put dates on these things).

I’ve got Facebook blockers on my firewall, removed them temporarily.

          • mauser 98

FB block!! whew… Zuckerberg will hunt you down

          • That’s what’s happening! I still don’t get the vid direct even after removing blockers — they’re trying to put a tracking cookie (“whose this guy who found a way to block us?”)

          • mauser 98

            (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

          • Nope — all I get is the embedded script (blockers removed).

Thanks for the date — wow that riot is a bad omen. I think the Muzzies have joined with the anarchists.

Radio Soleil France refugees throw trash on highway

Via Channel 4 News Jan 26

          • Maybe I watched a different (updated) vid — it’s more than throwing trash, it’s a riot with fires and the riot police there.

            from ..luna

….you have to be signed into FB account to play video

          • Aha! But I found a way around it — was able to play it from a link in the code (it happened by accident). Don’t tell Zuckerberg. Now if only I can remember how I did it for next time around…

          • tom_billesley

The French call that a “manifestation”.

          • luna

Requires a FB account to watch.

          • tom_billesley

I don’t have an account and I can watch the video (all three links).

          • luna

I tried to watch, but got FB login screen?

          • lolwut?

No, that’s footage from an Uber protest. no migrants…. or at least the current wave of them.

Cab drivers in France have been blocking roads and burning tires for a few days now.

          • Protestors are setting a bad example. Gives the impression that “this is how we do ‘peaceful manifestations’ in France — we riot!”

    • John

Mauser what’s the background to this video? Are we watching the antics of anti-racists or disgruntled migrants. I don’t know who is who anymore.

      • mauser 98

“regugees” protesting in France… shut down highway

probably bad wifi or slow room service upset them

        • John

Really…they should have run a few of them over!

    • Justin St.Denis

I get a video image, but it doesn’t play.

      • mauser 98

you may have facebook block like ricardojaime

        see above

      • mauser 98

just found out ….you have to be signed into FB to play video

    • lolwut?

      That’s an Uber protest.

      • mauser 98

oh well ,,, could have been invaders

  • Xavier

I know where this leads. Germany never learns, do they?

  • John

Like Douglas Murray says, the state will double down on the reactions to the problem, all the while doing nothing about the principle problem itself.

    Another fine example here.

    • H

Yes, that is clearly the case already in however many different places – they can’t or won’t admit their egregious errors (even if they were *only* errors). Not now. So there is no hope in government and their cheerleaders, the media. Change, if there is to be any, must come from the average person who suffers under the policies of people like Merkel. It’s happened before: Poland in the 1980’s, Egypt, when it threw off Obama’s beloved Muslim Brotherhood. It can happen; let’s hope it does.

  • tom_billesley

The view from the Chancellor’s office on Saturday.
The poor woman is beset by bigots. It’s worse than Gordon Brown at Rochdale.

  • Tony

Heil Merkel! Germany has become a dictator state.

  • Reader

Didn’t he realize that Merkel loves him?
