Fear and loathing in York University

In my three years at York University I have made a conscious effort to avoid any participation in campus politics. Acutely aware of Sayre’s law that “academic politics are so vicious precisely because the stakes are so small”, I gave a wide berth to the often vitriolic Israeli-Palestinian debate. In light of recent events, I feel a moral obligation to speak out against a concerted campaign to vilify and intimidate Jewish students and institutions on campus.

    Lol York degrees!

God, I had a family member recently graduate. What a joke program. The whole “university” is just another giant government make work project. In all aspects.

Self perpetuating fuck your wallet machine.
The creative destruction wave of MOOCS will tear it down.

York has been ours for years.

It is recruiting for the Umma in Toronto for the time when all accept Allah and his law.

Back in the late 70’s we all laughed about the saying that “Friends don’t let Friends go to the High School at Keele and Steeles” &/or “Those that couldn’t get into U of T go to York and those that couldn’t even get into York go to Ryerson”…. I see nothing has changed in 40 years.
The toilet tissue dispenser in one of the men’s room stalls at U of T New College back in the early 80’s had graffiti scrawled on it that read “York University BA – take one”.
I know one Jewish York alumnus who when called for his annual donation told the caller that not only was he never going to donate to York again due to its rampant anti-Semitism, but that he was also
strongly considering sending his degree back.
