A competent enough actor even if his main work ,MASH became a progressive liberal bore.

    • Mash did not age well.

I watched an ancient rerun a few weeks back, found i was hoping a Nork infiltrator would pop up in the swamp and vapourize alan alda no such luck. What a pompous progressive prig he was .

        • Lord yes.

          • Frances

            And a serial sexual predator.

Who was? Alan Alda? Really? I always thought Alda was like a Ken doll and all smooth “down there”.

          • Gary

His father appeared in one of the Shows but had died later on in 1986 after the series had ended.
Clinger was the only cast member that actually Served in the Korean conflict .

          • It amuses me to think how quickly sanctimonious git Hawkeye would find himself facing a sexual harassment lawsuit today. He wouldn’t last a day.

How true, yet at the time both he and MASH were so avant-gard

M*A*S*H always made me feel as if I was being lectured at. Or maybe that was the effect Alan Alda had on me regardless of what role he was playing. Alda has one of those faces I would never get tired of punching. WR, on the other hand, really could ACT. RIP

He was in Cool Hand Luke, which makes up for it.

Ya, and the worst thing is, I converted all old my tapes to DVD. Silly of me.

  • HalcyonDaze

To bad but I thought he as considerably better than the guy who replaced him. Once he and Mclean Stevenson were gone the show became nothing more than a preachy half hour ode to left wing narcissism hosted by Alan Alda.

Apparently, he was conservative-libertarian. A commenter at Ace’s ONT last night mentioned he was frequently on Fox Business railing against the Left.
