Denmark defends plans to strip migrants of their jewellery and valuables after comparisons to Nazi Germany, saying: ‘You must pay for yourself before you get benefits

Denmark has defended plans for police to search asylum seekers’ luggage for valuables and cash after they prompted international outrage and drew comparisons to Nazi Germany.

The Danish government has proposed to bring refugees in line with unemployed Danes, who can only get social benefits if they sell any valuables and assets above 10,000 kroner (£976).

Valuables worth more than 10,000 Danish kroner would be seized upon applying for asylum, and then used to pay for lodging, language classes, health care and job training courses.

    Sounds fair to me!
I suspect it will be difficult to administer and to avoid fraud (from several directions).

Sounds ok to me as well.
Your point about fraud is valid but any difficulty with fraud is outweighed completely by the positive fact that word gets out. “If you want to keep your stuff, DON’T GO TO DENMARK!!!”

The lefties can bleat about nazism all they want. Who cares? They will anyway. The clever person who thought up this little gem came up with a very politically acceptable way to discourage migrants.

Whatever minimal funds are confiscated should go towards paying for their deportation.

The Mo’s shouldn’t mind – after all they stole all the assets of the 800,000 Jews that were forced to flee all the Mo ruled countries after the creation of Israel in 1948… so obviously there’s nothing wrong with confiscation.

Good, common sense makes an appearance.

Denmark, you make me proud! I thought you were a goner.

Here in BC there are strict rules as to how much in assets you can own and still be allowed to collect social benefits other than OAP.
