An incredible talent. Thanks for posting.
I thought it was kind of unusual.
A good part of his appeal (then and now) was his social commentary:
“The topics of Lead Belly’s music covered a wide range, includinggospel; blues about women, liquor, prison life, and racism; and folk songs about cowboys, prison, work, sailors, cattle herding, and dancing. He also wrote songs about people in the news, such asFranklin D. Roosevelt, Adolf Hitler, Jean Harlow, the Scottsboro Boys, and Howard Hughes.” (from Wikipedia)
I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I never knew he played 12-string.
I need to listen to more of this man’s music.
