A 29-year-old man accused of a violent, sustained and unprovoked knife attack at Leytonstone Tube station has appeared in court.

Muhaydin Mire, of Leytonstone, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with the attempted murder of a 56-year-old man, referred to only as Male A, on Saturday evening.

The court heard the victim was attacked from behind in front of several members of the public at around 7pm.

Prosecutor David Cawthorne told the court Mire said he was doing it ‘for Syria and his brothers in Syria’.

Thank God that the majority are peaceful-long as we give them special prayer mats in special rooms with special food and lots of welfare.
