How Israel confronts Islamic State

The hang glider was barely visible in the late afternoon sky as it swept above the bristling Israeli military positions on the Golan Heights and towards the Syrian border.

Its pilot was Nidal Saleh, an athletic 23-year-old Palestinian man. Behind him was his life in Israel, where he lived in an Arab village near Tel Aviv and held an Israeli passport. In front of him was his alleged goal: a rendezvous with the Islamic State (Isil) and the hope of joining their ranks.

If they want to join a rogue state, whose only earthly claim to Statehood rests on false rewards in the afterlife in return for savage acts of violence, then that’s their problem.
