So why weren’t these ISIS facilities leveled when they first became known?

“French jets struck the heart of ISIS-controlled territory on Sunday in the first direct retaliation for Friday’s deadly terror attacks that killed 129 in Paris.

French fighter jets dropped 20 bombs on a command and control center, jihadi recruitment center, munitions depot and ISIS training camp in the Syrian city of Raqqa, AP and Reuters reported, citing a statement from the French Defense Ministry.”

I doubt they just discovered them this afternoon.

This is how I see it.
Since it is an ISIS stronghold, and has been for a while, all remaining residents MUST be considered ISIS sympathizers, collaborators, and enablers.
Therefore they are righteous and legitimate targets for military force.
Take a flight of B-52s and make the ENTIRE city look like the moon.
As John Lennon would say: Imagine!
A B-52 bomb crater 45-years after the fact in Vietnam.

    • That is some crater!

      • Drunk_by_Noon

No kidding, and that is almost 50-YEARS after the fact.

Most people just can’t conceive how insanely devastating a coordinated and all-out B-52 strike really is, since we have not used them that way since Vietnam.
Because of the massive overpressures, nothing survives in the vicinity.

That crater is not big enough.

          • Bernie

Israel is missing . There is nothing to like about this photo.

          • Maneki-neko

Really, I thought it was still there, it’s so tiny, it’s difficult to tell.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

            It’s till there.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

You have one of two choices Bernie.
            1. An eye doctor appointment
            2. A Geography 101 class at the local community college of your choice.

            and the planet is dead.

mebbe Khe Sanh .. or the ho chi minh trail ..
how many of the enemy were turned into particles & red mist ?? i’d say we greased 4 million, easy .

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Well, it depends on who you ask.
At first, we thought we had only killed a million or so NVA/VC until (much later) the Vietnamese Government said it was actually closer to 1.25 million and then we took another look at reported census records and we counted about 2-2.5 million plus North Vietnamese that were not there anymore, but should have been.
Later, but unofficial statements released by retired NVA generals and politicos pretty much confirmed that the good old U.S. of A. punched a HUGE demographic hole in their male population numbers that are even today not quite yet sorted out.
It appears that they were pretty close to demographic collapse in 1972 and could not mobilize any more male bodies than what they had on hand.

          • bob e

vietnamese males “that were not there” good one there. berttcha’ they are not that good at keeping the census either. the results won’t lead to
a payoff by any democrats ..

      Bummer bomb buddies??

In another part of Paris this so called moderate Muslim shows how outraged

I see that there desire to assimilate is unaffected.

  • Alain

If this is accurate it will upset Obama and the man-child Trudeau.

    • mauser 98

only thing to upset Ottawa sonofawhore would be no selfies

  • kkruger71

Honestly? I bet a lot of the reason they weren’t bombed before now is budgetary reasons. They want the air strikes to last a certain amount of time so they can continue to say they’re doing something about ISIS, but if they hit all known targets right away they will blow what they have budgeted for this operation long before the time frame runs out.

    • Interesting angle.

    • Minicapt

      … USAF budgetary reasons …

  • Clear Thinker

The Americans, at will, can send their B-52H SQUADRON from Diego Garcia to downtown isis and Syria, and saturation bomb every not so soon to be alive haji, inside of 10 hours. Then can turn and go to Italy to refuel, reload, and make a return trip just as easily. It has an unrefueled range of 14,000 km at 50,000 feet at subsonic speed. Put them to work lads, and I think today’s weapons, are much better than when the planes were used on Charlie in Vietnam.

    • Clausewitz

And follow up by putting the A-10’s back to work for that up close and personal feeling.

  • Norman_In_New_York

Why wasn’t this done before? Because when Israel bombed Hamas targets in Gaza, civilians were killed and the holier-than-thous were accusing Israel of “disproportionate force.” Therefore, Obama did not want to be exposed as a hypocrite, so anywhere there are civilians became off-limits to our airstrikes.

    • Clausewitz

There is no such thing as disproportionate force in War, there is only Victory.
