A Revolt of the Coddled

It has been said that college is where students go to learn how to learn. That is increasingly looking like an assumption based only in faith. The crisis of enforced intellectual homogeneity on America’s college campuses has been an acute one for several years. Despite the public’s growing concern for the integrity of American higher education, it is a crisis that seems only to get worse.

I have worked with a lot of engineers and technicians.
It’s infuriating that acolytes of the flying spaghetti monster are also convinced of global warming.

It was about 25C in Red Rock yesterday, apparently…what do you call that?

No one (or practically no one) is questioning the model that CO2 in the atmosphere prevents heat from escaping into space and that more of it should cause warming.

That said, the models from 10, 20 years ago all predicted consistent warming and have proved inaccurate: according to satellite data there has been no warming in 18 years, 9 months, and this “Pause” suggests that 1) either the effect of CO2 on climate was over-estimated or 2) there are other mitigating factors at play. ( In fact, probably both.)

These students’ statements alone make it clear that their exposure to real and vivid racism … was so deeply wounding because it was so new. These were sentiments to which these students had never been exposed, and the shock was too much to accept.”

Hmm. So let’s suppose that they succeed in making universities and colleges completely “safe spaces”. Then they leave campus grounds and – gasp! – encounter mean words. What will they do then? Oh, that’s right: they’ll vote for Hillary Clinton.
