Russian passenger plane with 224 on board ‘completely destroyed’ after crashing in Egypt’s Sinai desert ‘leaving no survivors’

Egypt search and rescue teams have located a crashed passenger jet carrying more than 220 Russian tourists in a remote area of the Sinai desert.

Egyptian air traffic control lost contact with the airliner shortly after it took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to head to Russia.

The Irish-owned aircraft was leased by a Russian airline. It crashed in the Hassana area, south of Arish.
