“Trust fund boy” Trudeau’s “first infrastructure program”: $10M to redecorate 24 Sussex. (Clean water on reserves can wait.)

We’re finally learned what Justin Trudeau’s first move will be as Canada’s new prime minister, even though he hasn’t been sworn in yet.

  • AmicusC

amzing it was such a horrible thing when harper wanted to do it but its not horrible that the kid wants it to be shiny and new. good thing we have the cbc to tell us the diff between good and bad actions

    • mauser 98

we have entered an inversely proportional universe
      down is up

    • Barry Thornton

Harper actually deferred the recommended work.

      • AmicusC

yes and my recollection is he did that because everyone got their panties in a knot whining about the expense.

  • Clink9

The next 4 years will horrible for taxpayers, but never boring.

    • mauser 98

boring? no.. just gut wrenching vomitous rage

  • tom_billesley

Just like the Emperor Nero’s “Domus Aurea” gold leaf covered palace built on land cleared by fire blamed on the Christians. He didn’t enjoy it for long before his suicide.

    • mauser 98

The Sun King suicide? we should be so lucky

  • JoKeR
    • And Trudeau’s priority is him.

      • disqusW6sf

Just like his dad who enjoyed himself at the expense of Canadians.

  • L (l) iberals care about their own comfort. That is why they seek positions of power in the first place.

    • Clink9

CBC news and all their hilarious shows like 22 Minutes will be all over this.

      • Clausewitz

        That’s sarcasm right?

        • Clink9

          Indubitably.

      • Wait!

You said “22 Minutes” was hilarious!

No. No, this isn’t right at all!

  • New Centurion

Guys, guys, it’s all part of the liberal “infrastructure plan” “minor deficits” and all that, besides he plans on being there a long, long time.

  • reidjr

To be fair these are must does its not about making the place look nicer now with that said PT was the last pm to spend a ton of cash on the place as he put in a pool if the golden boy just does whats needed fine but if he goes above that then its a issue.

  • passerby1969

I like The Rebel and I value Ezra’s opinion on a lot of issues. However, I thought this editorial was beneath him. While I admire Harper for not wanting to disrupt his family and save the taxpayers money by stating put, I also think Trudeau is making a good decision. Since he is only the pm designate, I don’t expect him to be able to make huge decisions about First Nations and the like this quickly.

The house does need updating. I hope they rewire the house bringing communication in the home up to date and update security. Personally, I think it’s cheaper in the end to house a prime minister in a house built with good security than to work at making a prime minister’s own residence secure.

I hope Mike Holmes oversees the job and makes a documentary out of it (leaving out security details, of course).

    • BillyHW

      Faggot.

    • Clausewitz

Funny, he’s already pulled our planes out of combat against ISIS. Your point is therefore null and void.

      • passerby1969

No, my point is not null and void. Ezra’s point is null and void. The house issue was not Trudeau’s first decision.

    • Clink9

Or, Turdo can move in as is and we can hope for another Storm Of The Century to carry it down the Ottawa River.

    • David Murrell

I disagree. Given that Canada’s media cartel is pro-Liberal, we need one media outlet which will hold the Liberals to account. The on-the-take corporate media refuse to do so. So let Ezra and Brian attack the Liberals. Rebel Media is a breath of free air.

    • V10_Rob

The place does need repairs. Doesn’t mean we can’t also beat the left over the head with it.

We needed new jets. Didn’t stop them from beating Harper over the head with it (yes, the F-35 program is flawed, but do you honestly think they would have changed their tune even if it was the perfect plane at the perfect price?).

      • G

V10_Rob nailed it. The Liberals pull this do this hypocritical crap all the time. The repairs and upgrades DO need to be done and it’s a good thing that he’s doing them. So what?

We can still spin it to look like a spoiled little brat wanting to live in a palace. The conservatives need to get over their goody two shoes obsession and start fighting dirty.

    • Alain

Well then you totally miss the point, which is the dishonest double standard of the media party.

      • passerby1969

Ezra is better than that. He’s brought to light a lot of good issues. 24 Sussex Drive is just a petty topic.

        • Alain

Yes he did all that, but you are still missing the point.

  • Barry Thornton

Ezra is showing off his TDS. Somehow I doubt that JT has been through the joint and made all these demands. The committee that oversees these projects recommended them to be done in 2008 and Harper said no thank you. I can tell you from experience on jobs involving Asbestos that it is a very costly procedure if you want to avoid running afoul of regulatory bodies and upgrading 1960s plumbing and electrical to todays standards won’t be cheap. Not to mention that restoring a historical site just jacks up the cost ridiculously. Ezra is turning into a shrill attack dog and is just getting worse as time goes on.

    • Clink9

He shouldn’t upset the snowboard instructor.

    • Clausewitz

Well since Trudeau campaigned in the style of Obama, I guess we have to expect Canada’s version of the Zombie like Obamabots to show up. Too bad Justin wasn’t a visible minority so you could start screaming Racists early, long, and loud.

      • Barry Thornton

Boy you make some awfully big assumptions don’t you? I most definitely am not a Buckwheat fan and even less a fan of the Dauphin. On most things I agree with Ezra but once in awhile it gets a little much. It seems that you might be the one without an argument after I present facts you start to play the race game with me. Do you have any facts to present in your defense of Ezra Levant who has never had anything good to say about anybody with an opinion that is different than his?

        • G

Big deal. You don’t like Ezra.
I’m sure he’s lays awake at night worrying about it.

The right doesn’t have nearly enough attack dogs. We should have division of Ezras.
I don’t care in the slightest if some people think he’s too mean. It’s better if he’s too mean than too timid.

Did you happen to notice we haven’t seen saint Suzuki poking his head out of his mansion and opening his worthless yap too often since Ezra publicly humiliated him a few times.

Attack dogs have their place. if you are too squeamish then don’t watch him.

  • Interesting comments above – looks like the Dauphin’s fans are crawling into the Blazingcatfur’s abode, the way they did on The Rebel site. St. Justin can’t do wrong, even if he squanders $10 million on house renovation. I don’t remember anybody of them commenting on the evils of asbestos in the PM residence when Harper was there.

    • Yusuf_Al_Kafir

Because the progressives were hoping the asbestos would have killed Harper.

  • Yusuf_Al_Kafir

Of course Prince Fancy-Pantz must have his precious fucking palace.

  • BillyHW

    Change!

    • Clausewitz

Obama was all about Hope and Change. The Shiny Pony was all about Dope and Change.

    • G

      your diaper

  • canminuteman

The house is federal government infrastructure. It needs to be maintained. It should be kept in a good state of repair all the time. This becomes a political hot potato every time there is a change of PM mostly because of childish partisanship. We know that Liberals act like children, there is no reason for us to stoop to their level of stupidity.

I hate PM Zoolander as much as the next guy, but now is a perfect time to do the necessary work that PM Harper chose not to do for partisan reasons. Zoolander can stay in his own home while the work is being done since he already lives in the same neighbourhood, without saddling the taxpayers with any extra living out of town expenses.

    • G

Yes! Let him do the renos and we smear him for it. So?

Did anyone say life is fair?

    • Alain

I disagree. This is about the dishonesty and double standard of the media party. Furthermore the whole idea of needing to “play nice” bought by far too many on the right is exactly why the left continues to win.

  • Allan

Canada is in deep, deep trouble over the next 4 years. Perhaps longer
