Who can be the magnet of our great national discontent now that Harper is on his way out?

The election has come and gone, and the punditry (I among them) with all diligence, fortified by hindsight, have gone over the results and highlighted its themes — Poor Tom, Happy Justin, Sad Stephen. But a few neglected strands remain, so I offer a Few Notes on the Recent Tumult.

Harper can keep that role. Harris still has it in Ontario even after being out of power for thirteen years.

    Another good column by Rex.

  • Ron MacDonald

Give Trudeau six months, he’ll earn it

Actually, I’ve read that he won’t present a budget until April if he’s lucky.

  • Doug Kursk

History will be kind to Stephen Harper. Best PM in my lifetime.

    • Dave

Too bad he pulled a few boneheaded moves. Like closing coast guard stations in the port of Vancouver to save 2 or 3 million dollars then to blow it and 25 million more for a party commemorating a war that was 200 years ago. I am conservative, I vote conservative, but sometime I have to hang my head in shame.
      Just sayin’.

      • terrence

The Vancouver coast guard station served NO USEFUL purpose – NONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADDA – other than a “press image” “feel good” sense to some union goons . Throwing taxpayer’s money it at served NO USEFUL PURPOSE.

        • Dave

maybe not, but in politics, visuals are everything. 28 million on a party for the 1812 war served NO USEFUL purpose – NONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADDA.

          • terrence

Conservatives being “visual” in Canada’s slimestream media have no chance – NONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADDA, of being “visual” – unless it is, as it WAS, critical, dishonest and flat-out lying,

          • Dave

Exactly, so why pull stunts that make it easier for the msm to discredit the cpc party?

          • terrence

Here in Vancouver, the Harper Hating Slime Stream Media would bite their tongues when someone pointed out that the ONLY people who benefited from the CGS are those who owned million dollar yachts (people the HHSSM usually despise). So, if they left it open, it would be an example of the EVIL CONS pandering to the 1% of EVIL RICH people.

So they closed it and saved some taxpayer money -and YOU CRITICISE THEM FOR DOING THAT. You really must be an Non Democratic Party fanatic.

How about good old fashioned cbc, carolyn perished style anti-Americanism

  • If Trudeau opens the Muslim immigration flood gates, Canada will suffer the same fate as Western Europe.

Liberal fascination with the Islamic cult is like putting a suicide driver at the wheel of the bus you are riding in.

    • unalien

Liberalism and Islam are both Fascist constructs..

both merge the State and God

‘Elizabeth May Party of Saanich-Gulf Islands (a.k.a. the Stomp Out Fort McMurray Party)’ Hilarious! Rex was the only CBC journalist with any talent

  • eMan14

Anyone who is in power without the approval of the progressive left will be the subject of national discontent. Stephen Harper was not a hard core Conservative. But he was demonized as such, if not worse, by those who wanted to get rid of him.

Someone will emerge to wield Excalibur.

  • unalien

I do have the answer,,, the groundwork has been laid,,

It is the “individual”, the cultural Marxist end game, the individual vs the State

    Freedom is Slavery
    The State is God

  • disqusW6sf

I liked Harper because he went against the grain/bureaucrats and we had 8 years of stability.
