Facts and figures – Is the terrorism threat in Canada real and imminent (Harper) or cynically inflated (Mulcair and Trudeau)?

The terrorism threat in Canada was one of the major issues of the election campaign. Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, keeps warning of the global jihadism that targets the West, including Canada. Both NDP leader, Thomas Mulcair and Liberal leader Justin Trudeau accuse Harper of Islamophobia and inflating the threat of terrorism to play up fear and division in society. During the Munk debate, Trudeau said that Harper has tried to scare Canadians into believing “a terrorist is hiding behind every rock and tree.”

  • That’s the same thing they said about Communism: “you think there’s a Communist hiding behind every curtain”. Then Communism grew to dominate 1/3 of the entire planet. And they continued to say: “you think there’s a Communist hiding behind every curtain”. Good thing people like Ronald Reagan didn’t pay attention to them.

To make such a serious threat a partisan issue is disgusting. We have already experienced more than one example of jihad carried out in Canada, so claiming there is no such threat or danger is dishonest. Furthermore it is immoral since pretending that Islamic jihad as a threat does not exist puts people’s lives in danger.

Justin Trudeau is stupid, while Tom Mulcair is crazy. Let’s hope Canadians remember this when they vote.

Maritime Canadians god bless them are ignorant. It will be liberal here. Could we please have more conservative retirees in this part of the country. Jeepers.

It’ll have to wait about 25 years in my case but I intend to return to Halifax to retire … actually, I might prefer a smaller town like Wolfville (NS) or Yarmouth (NS) We’ll see.

Incidentally, my sister in Halifax will NEVER vote Liberal or NDP – but that’s because she’s strongly pro-life.

I am going to take for granted that you’re young and a conservative. Good news indeed.

I’ll bet Cretien and Martin will be unavailable for comment in the aftermath.
