‘Minority report’ algorithm can spot violent crimes among soldiers before they happen

Predicting crime has been a staple of scifi movies for decades – but the US Army says it now has a working system.

Using the military records of all 975,057 soldiers who served during a six-year period, researchers have developed an algorithm to predict which soldiers would subsequently commit a ‘severe physical violent crime’.

The system is designed to allow those at risk to be given counseling or another intervention.

So their algorithm correctly identifies which soldiers are muslims then…

“Those most at risk were young, poor, ethnic minorities …” now that’s profiling.

It definitely has the capability to help some soldiers. I’m all for that. But if it spills over to civilian use, I can see the potential for misuse. A.K.A. Minority Report. As long as they don’t penalize before any crime is committed.

Lot of government types would love to have a gizmo like that to compile a No Gun Purchase list.

A good use for the President’s pet AI.

We can only have people that shun violence in a milquetoast military.
